Ontsnapt het Formule 1-team aan bezuinigingen bij Renault?

Renault staat op het punt om een pakket aan bezuinigingsmaatregelen ter waarde van 2 miljard euro aan te kondigen. De Franse autofabrikant incasseert harde klappen door de coronacrisis. De autoverkoop in Europa is in het eerste kwartaal van 2020 met 40 procent achteruit gehold, terwijl in de maand april zelfs een daling van 80 procent ten opzichte van vorig jaar is genoteerd.

Dat zijn geen rooskleurige cijfers en Groupe Renault heeft niet voor niets al een lening van 5 miljard euro afgesloten om deze periode te overbruggen. Het bestuur buigt zich nu over een ingrijpende bezuinigingsronde. Het verhaal gaat dat de Franse autofabrikant vier fabrieken in Frankrijk gaat sluiten, waaronder de fabriek in Dieppe waar de A110 van de nieuwe Alpine-serie wordt geproduceerd.

Renault gaat zich meer toeleggen op de modellen die goed verkopen. Deze ontwikkelingen roepen uiteraard vragen op over het Formule 1-project van de Franse autofabrikant. Renault heeft een eigen fabrieksteam en is als motorleverancier actief in de koningsklasse van de autosport. Het merk geeft ongeveer 195 miljoen dollar per jaar uit aan de ontwikkeling van Formule 1-motoren en het budget voor de renstal zal ongeveer hetzelfde zijn.

Nieuwe reglementen

Dat is in normale tijden al een behoorlijke uitgave, laat staan in crisistijd. De Formule 1 is er veel aangelegen om alle autofabrikanten - inclusief Renault - aan boord te houden en doet er dan ook alles aan om het kostentechnisch zo aantrekkelijk mogelijk te maken. De sport voert in 2021 een budgetlimiet in, de verdeling van het prijzengeld wordt eerlijker en de nieuwe reglementen voor 2022 moeten meer teams kansen op topresultaten bieden.

Of het genoeg is om Groupe Renault te overtuigen om het Formule 1-team te sparen bij de bezuinigingen? De tijd zal het leren.

Toch wel bijzonder dat de autofabrikanten opeens ‘zo onder druk staan’. Natuurlijk, wanneer de fabrieken en showrooms dicht zijn wordt er niks verkocht, maar de verwachtingen zijn juist dat de consument méér auto’s gaat aanschaffen. Ze zitten ook nog steeds met het akkefietje Carlos Ghosn. Zou wel een drama voor Ocon zijn als Renault besluit ermee te stoppen al zal de inboedel inc. coureurs dan wel verkocht worden.

  Als Mercedes of andere teams ook de stekker trekken en er meer teams in de verkoop komen dan is de vraag ook nog of je Renault wel moet willen kopen!

Als Renault besluit te stoppen omdat ze het te duur vinden schakelen we gewoon terug naar de lekker goedkope V10, en krijgen we vast wel meer autootjes en teams op de grid. Win win die Corona crisis ;)

Renault wil in Frankrijk 4 fabrieken sluiten en alleen de fabriek in Flins openhouden. Als de Franse regering niet met 5 miljard over de brug komt bestaat Renault waarschijnlijk niet meer. Zou wel verbazingwekkend zijn dat het F1 team ontsnapt aan deze malaise.

  Productie (Flins) van de Renault Zoë gegarandeerd dus en toekomstige andere EV opvolgers. De laatste versie (50 kWh) rijdt echt fijn, na de eerste 2 versies (22 en 40 kWh) te hebben gereden.
  Doen ze goed bij Renault. ?
  F1 (ICE) is dan niet echt (business) gerelateerd meer.
  Jammer voor de sport, maar wordt toch meer de echte realiteit.
  Ook Mercedes ziet de bui hangen. Verwacht dit ook bij Honda.
  Zal het F1 spelletje missen. ??

  Vrees ook het ergste @reno,alle Europese autofabrikanten moeten de transitie naar ev nog maken. In Duitsland verwacht men dat dit 145000 onslagen gaat kosten. Dan kan je echt niet meer doorgaan met een F1 team. Maatschappelijk wordt dat terecht niet gepikt.

Men wil/durft namelijk niet meer het openbaar vervoer in en fietsen is niet altijd een optie... in de steden schieten de aanvragen voor parkeervergunningen de lucht in en de elektrische fietsen zijn ook niet aan te slepen. Ook de prijzen van occasions schieten omhoog nu de markt rap aantrekt. De automobielfabrikanten zullen dit positieve effect toch ook moeten merken? Het lijkt er meer op dat men op een goedkopen manier proberen te bezuinigen. Mensen eruit, dure fabrieken dicht, eens flink saneren in het modellen aanbod en de productie overhevelen naar lage-lonen landen. Toch handig zo een crisis....

  Autofabrikanten hebben de afgelopen weken 80 tot 95 procent minder auto's verkocht. Jouw aanname komt niet overeen met de werkelijkheid. Er zijn nog nooit zo weinig auto's verkocht als nu.

De dip komt voor het grootste gedeelte door uitgestelde aankopen omdat je toch een proefrit wil maken en de auto's wilt zien. Het zal voor het grootste gedeelte dan ook ingelopen worden.

Wellicht tijd om weer kleinere elektrische stadsauto's te maken die relatief goedkoper zijn. Of abonnementen gaan verkopen? Renault blijft eigenaar en je betaald een vast tarief en als je een auto wilt zoek je er een op (uiteindelijk komen die automatisch voorrijden) en je betaald per km. De toekomst denk ik.

  Concept loopt al jaren in Parijs. Dus echt toekomst is het niet meer, maar adopteren van het idee.
  Autootje ontgrendelen met leenkaart en karren maar. (Wel even de stekker eruit ;-) )
  Ben je er klaar mee dan gewoon weer op een betreffende laadpaal parkeerplaats neerzetten en vergrendelen.
  Afrekening komt.
  Dus geen autobezit meer maar iets van car-sharing.
