Oostenrijk nadert goedkeuring van protocol voor Grands Prix

De Oostenrijkse ministeries van Volksgezondheid en Sport hebben nog geen beslissing genomen over het doorgaan van twee Grands Prix op de Red Bull Ring op 5 en 12 juli. De organisatie van de races in Spielberg heeft een uitgebreid veiligheidsprotocol ingediend en is nu in afwachting van goedkeuring.

"We zitten nog midden in dat proces. We doen ons best daar tijdig een besluit over te nemen", aldus Rudolf Anschober, minister van Volksgezondheid, tegenover ORF. Toch zijn er ook her en der al signalen dat de Oostenrijkse regering in gaat stemmen met de plannen voor de Formule 1-races.

De verwachting is dat er spoedig groen licht komt voor de Grands Prix in Oostenrijk, waarschijnlijk voor het einde van deze maand nog. Werner Kogler, minister van Sport, vulde zijn collega aan: "Het voldoende afstand houden moet niet al te moeilijk zijn. Er zullen wat voorzorgsmaatregelen nodig zijn in de pitboxen."

Aandachtspunten

Er zijn nog wel wat aandachtspunten, geeft Kogler toe. "Die houden verband met vertrek en binnenkomst, de accommodaties en de catering." Zodra de organisatie in Spielberg die zorgen heeft weggenomen en de laatste plooien heeft gladgestreken, zal de bevestiging van de start van het Formule 1-seizoen 2020 in Oostenrijk volgen.

  Lijkt me inderdaad geweldig. 5 juli gewoon een strak blauwe hemel, geen zuchtje wind, 28 graden. 12 juli op vrijdag en zaterdagochtend alles ook zo, maar vlak voor VT3 komen er dan donkere wolken boven het circuit, komen er regelmatig hoosbuien, zodat er de rest van het weekend alleen maar wisselende omstandigheden op de baan zijn. Nat, vochtig, opdrogend, even droog, weer kletsnat en ga zo maar door.

  Twee weekenden met ongeveer dezelfde omstandigheden lijkt me ook erg leuk, gewoon om eens te zien wat voor tactische gevolgen dat heeft. Ze hebben dan allemaal geleerd van de eerste race en zou interessant zijn om te zien of andere teams de winnende strategie gaan kopiëren enz.
  
  Vergelijk het een beetje met een return wedstrijd in het voetbal waarin je ook vaak een hele andere wedstrijd te zien krijgt.

  Twee weekenden hetzelfde weer wordt saai?
  Zoals PallMall al zegt, worden het twee totaal verschillende races, maar zelfs als het twee saaie races zijn, ben ik al blij als 2 weekenden achter elkaar die lichten uitgaan en ze gewoon weer ouderwets met 20 man op die eerste bocht af stuiven.

"Het voldoende afstand houden moet niet al te moeilijk zijn."... Zeg ik op 't werk ook al enkele weken, en toch wil het maar niet lukken bij velen. Elke dag versoepelen ze het voor hunzelf... Mensen worden snel laks..
