Williams hervat de werkzaamheden na verplichte shutdown

Het team van Williams heeft de werkzaamheden hervat na de verplichte shutdown die in de Formule 1 gold. De renstallen moesten de deuren van hun fabrieken 63 dagen gesloten houden, afgezien van de bijdrages die ze leverden in de strijd tegen het coronavirus onder de noemer Project Pitlane.

De shutdown vindt normaal gesproken tijdens de zomerpauze in de maand augustus plaats, maar is nu naar voren gehaald om ruimte te creëren om later dit jaar uitgestelde Grands Prix in te halen. Vooralsnog laat de start van het Formule 1-seizoen 2020 nog altijd op zich wachten. De eerste tien races zijn reeds uitgesteld of geannuleerd vanwege de coronapandemie.

Voor Williams zit de shutdown er nu op. De Britse renstal heeft overigens voorlopig nog maar een beperkt aantal werknemers op de werkvloer in de fabriek in Grove. Het team neemt de voorschriften voor social distancing in acht. "Het voelt goed om terug te zijn", stelt Williams in een bericht op de social media-kanalen.
