Formule 1 reserveert twee datums in augustus voor Silverstone

De Formule 1-leiding is druk doende om de herziene kalender voor het seizoen 2020 af te ronden. Het Europese gedeelte van de jaargang hebben ze inmiddels bijna rond, meldt Motorsport-Total.com. De koningsklasse van de autosport heeft acht Grands Prix in Europa voor ogen.

Te beginnen op 5 en 12 juli in Oostenrijk. Daarna verplaatst het circus zich naar Hongarije in plaats van naar Groot-Brittannië, zoals in eerste instantie de bedoeling was. De Britse quarantaine-eisen maken dat vooralsnog onmogelijk, waardoor Silverstone opgeschoven is naar augustus.

Die maand moeten er vier Grands Prix plaatsvinden; twee in Groot-Brittannië, één in Spanje en één in België. Het circuit van Monza in Italië zal het Europese deel van het seizoen 2020 dan op 6 september afsluiten. De Hockenheimring geldt als alternatief voor (bijna) al deze races.

De verwachting is dat de Formule 1 de kalender maandag presenteert. Hier alvast een voorproefje:
