Mercedes presenteert 'nieuwe normaal' tijdens test in Silverstone

Mercedes heeft vandaag laten zien wat de 'nieuwe norm' is die de Formule 1 zal doormaken wanneer de sport over iets meer dan drie weken terugkeert. De originele racekalender van 2020 is geschrapt in het licht van het coronavirus. Oostenrijk start nu het seizoen met twee opeenvolgende races op de Red Bull Ring op 5 en 12 juli.

Voorafgaand aan de start van het seizoen heeft Mercedes ervoor gekozen om deel te nemen aan een tweedaagse test op het Silverstone Circuit, waar later dit jaar ook twee Grand Prixs worden gehouden.

Mercedes test in Silverstone met de W09-auto van 2018, waarmee Lewis Hamilton zijn vijfde wereldtitel wist te pakken, terwijl Mercedes met dank aan Hamilton en Valtteri Bottas opnieuw de constructeurstitel wist te winnen.

Bottas reed vandaag in de wagen, woensdag zal Hamilton achter het stuur kruipen. Ook teambaas Toto Wolff is aanwezig op het circuit.

Testbeperkingen betekenen dat coureurs geen auto's mogen besturen op de baan die voldoen aan de voorschriften van het vorige seizoen, het huidige seizoen en het volgende seizoen.

Ferrari is ook van plan een test uit te voeren om het team vooruit te helpen voor het nieuwe seizoen, maar de fijnere details van die test zijn nog niet bekend.

Wanneer het seizoen weer wordt hervat, worden teams gedwongen zich te houden aan strikte veiligheids- en hygiënerichtlijnen. Er zullen regelmatig COVID-19-tests plaatsvinden en het is teamleden verboden om te communiceren met medewerkers van andere teams.

Met welke banden rijden ze eigenlijk?
Ik zie de harde compound op de foto maar hebben ze ook soft en medium mee? 2018 spec banden of gewoon de 2020?

  Ik hoorde dat ze alleen op kneiterharde banden hun rondjes mogen maken en dat het daarom nog maar de vraag is of zo'n sessie echt nuttig is.

  In het F1 café beweerde men dat er speciale Pirelli test banden zijn die keihard zijn. Soort demo banden. Nu kwam dit volgens mij van Plooij/Doornbos vandaan, dus je moet zelf maar wegen hoeveel waarde je daar aan hecht.

  Die mondkapjes zijn ervoor om steeds aan te zitten om het goed op te doen. Het is ook de bedoelingdat je het steeds op en af doet, om vervolgens weer overal met je handen aan te gaan zitten en in je ogen en neus te gaan zitten. Dat jullie dat niwt begrijpen zeg!

  alleen als ik plots moet hoesten of niesen dan doe ik dat mondkapje altijd ff af, anders krijg je al die bacteriën in je eigen gezicht, dat kan nooit de bedoeling zijn natuurlijk

Lekker hoor de AMG boys hebben lekker voorsprongtje tov de rest. Dit zijn net die kleine detailtje die het verschil maken. Laat de nieuwe slach seizoen weer beginnen, was mooi geweest om het kunnen aankondiging met een bazuin lol.
