Ferrari krijgt duizendste Grand Prix op Mugello

Ferrari testte de afgelopen dagen op het circuit van Mugello met een 2 jaar oude Ferrari. Hierdoor konden Sebastian Vettel en Charles Leclerc meters maken en zich voorbereiden op het seizoen, net als de monteurs die kennis konden maken met de nieuwe regels voor het werken in de paddock en pitboxen.

Een ander voordeel is dat het team weer actuele baankennis heeft opgedaan met een Grand Prix op het Italiaanse circuit in het vooruitzicht. Dit jaar rijdt Ferrari haar 1000ste race in de Formule 1, en die zal niet in Monza zijn. Dat is race 999 voor het team uit Maranello.

Mugello week na Monza

Bronnen in de Italiaanse en Britse media hebben nu bevestigd dat begin september de 1000ste race van Ferrari gehouden zal worden op het prachtige bergachtige circuit van Mugello. Die zal plaatsvinden vlak na de Grand Prix van Italië op Monza, die gehouden wordt op 6 september. De Grand Prix op Mugello wordt zo goed als zeker op 11, 12 en 13 september gereden.

Het betekent een uitbreiding op de Europese kalender van de sterk aangepaste F1-kalender, die nu negen races in 11 weken verreden ziet worden.

Cruciaal voor Ferrari is dat het een geschikt platform biedt om deze historische race te rijden, ook al zullen er net als de andere acht Grands Prix van tevoren geen fans zijn.

Mugello, dat door de jaren heen voornamelijk is gebruikt voor MotoGP en 20 kilometer ten noorden van Florence ligt, wordt pas het derde circuit in Italië dat na Monza en Imola een race van het F1-kampioenschap organiseert.

Pescara heeft ook een Grand-Prix gehouden, telt die niet mee omdat het niet een permanent circuit is?

  Nee, het gaat om de noemer Grand Prix van Italië. Pescara heeft maar 1 officiële Grand Prix georganiseerd in 1957. En die was genaamd de Pescara Grand Prix omdat Monza al de Italiaanse Grand Prix had.

  Ik drukte op "Reageer" en besef me dat ik wel gelijk heb, maar dat dit natuurlijk geen antwoord is op jouw vraag. Pescara had inderdaad gewoon in het rijtje van het artikel moeten staan.

Hahhaha, misschien niet op het terrein zelf, maar reken er maar op dat alle heuvels rondom het circuit compleet gevuld zullen zijn met F1 fans met verrekijkers, camera's en andere apparatuur om ook maar een glimps van de race op te kunnen vangen.

  Toevallig allemaal circuits die al sinds mensenheugenis bestaan en gewoon gebouwd zijn naar gelang de glooiingen van de natuur. Dat is toch veel mooier dan een opgespoten homp zand in Abu Dhabi, een geëgaliseerd moeras als Austin of een volledig van bomen gerooide omgeving als het huidige Hockenheim?

  Als ze nou niet die verdomde lange lagen asfaltstroken moesten hebben zou het COTA nog best een mooi parcours zijn. Hockenheim vroeger was vooral bijzonder door de gigantische hoge snelheid, dat ze dat hebben weggenomen maakt dat het een saaiere race is geworden.

Wat vet! Echt fan van dit circuit en mooi voor Ferrari om hier deze mijlpaal te 'vieren'.

Zou wel zo leuk zijn als ze nou ook nog even wat spoilers op dat hok schroeven waardoor dat ding ook nog eens snel wordt. De SF1000 die in de 1000e race van Ferrari op hun eigen circuit in Italië meehobbelt op P5/6 zou echt weer de zoveelste smack in the face voor ons (tifosi) zijn. When does the hurting stop?!?!
