Pirelli bereid tot lange toekomst in de Formule 1

Pirelli is sinds dit jaar de officiële bandenleverancier van de Formule 1. Wat de Italiaanse bandenfabrikant betreft is de koningsklasse van de autosport een project van de lange adem. Het begin van 2011 smaakt Pirelli naar meer.

Pirelli-voorzitter Marco Tronchetti Provera: We hebben een driejarig contract en samen met de teams doen we alles om te leren hoe we het racen nog attractiever en fascinerender kunnen maken. Tot nu toe hebben we onze doelstellingen gehaald en we willen dat continueren. De Formule 1 is iets voor de lange termijn, zolang het te veroorloven is. Als de formule niet te duur wordt zijn wij bereid om lang door te gaan.

Ons is gevraagd om dit jaar meer emotie in het racen aan te brengen en dat is ons gelukt met veilige banden die lang meegaan, maar niet te lang. Dat was een hele lastige opgave. We hebben geholpen met meer attractiviteit, onzekerheden en show. Daarmee hebben we iets bewerkstelligd dat moeilijker is dan banden produceren die het een hele race volhouden.
