Daniel Ricciardo: "Achterkant van onze wagen werkt veel beter"

Het team van Renault heeft afgelopen week flinke stappen gemaakt. Dat blijkt uit de vergelijking die het team zelf ook heeft gemaakt ten opzichte van vorig weekend en de resultaten in de kwalificatie van gisteren. De media viel het ook op en vroegen aan Daniel Ricciardo hoe dit komt.

De Australiër kwalificeerde zich op een mooie vijfde positie, vlak achter de twee Mercedes-coureurs, Hulkenberg en Verstappen. Naast hem staat de Ferrari van Charles Leclerc.

Een flinke opsteker dus voor Renault, dat gisteren al onverwachts de derde tijd tijdens de tweede vrije training reed. Het team was verrast zei Ricciardo maar wist dat ze snelheid hadden.

De coureur met startnummer 3 gaf op vragen van Sky Sports antwoorden al bleef hij uiteraard enigszins in het midden waaraan het ligt. Ricciardo zei tegen interviewer Jenson Button: "De achterkant van onze wagen is sinds dit weekend veel beter. Aan welk onderdeel dat ligt weet ik niet! Want dat is wel de reden waarom we in staat zijn om zo vroeg op het gas te gaan als we de bocht uitkomen. De downforce werkt erg goed."
