Zelfs nu wil Sebastian Vettel nog altijd geen manager

Van Sebastian Vettel is bekend dat hij altijd zijn zaakjes zelf regelt, en dat blijft zo. Zelfs nu de Duitser nog niet weet waar hij volgend seizoen actief is.

Ferrari maakte eerder bekend Vettel volgend seizoen te vervangen door Carlos Sainz. De onzekerheid slaat nog niet toe bij Vettel. Hij is dan ook niet van plan om een manager in te gaan huren.

Vettel: “Misschien zou het hier en daar helpen. Ik denk dat dit het pad is dat ik altijd heb genomen,” vertelt hij in gesprek met Ralf Schumacher bij Sky.

Mensen komen en gaan

“Sommige mensen komen en gaan. Er zijn veel mensen die je een schouderklopje geven, maar dan een paar weken later hebben ze kritiek op je.”

Vettel kreeg wel adviezen van Dr. Helmut Marko in zijn loopbaan, maar hij nam altijd zijn eigen besluiten. “Ik zal niet zeggen dat ik altijd alleen was, want er waren altijd mensen die mij ondersteunden. Ik denk wel dat het wellicht belangrijker is om te weten wie te vertrouwen is en op wie je echt kunt bouwen, dan dat je de mening van mensen over jou wilt proberen te veranderen.”

De viervoudig wereldkampioen vervolgt: “Ik denk dat ik wat dat betreft de juiste mensen om mij heen heb, en ik kan zelf nog prima nadenken en ik ben nog altijd helder in mijn hoofd.”

Gesprekken voor 2021

Vettel zegt verschillende gesprekken te voeren met mogelijke werkgevers voor 2021. Zijn kansen in de Formule 1 lijken beperkt, al wordt hij vaak gelinkt aan een overstap naar het team van Aston Martin. Dat team rijdt nu nog rond onder de naam Racing Point. Wat er zoal wordt beweerd, zegt hem niet zo te boeien.

“Ik ben nooit zo afhankelijk geweest van de mening van anderen, ik ben niet bezig met wat andere mensen denken en wat mensen zeggen. Dank God dat ik daar nooit zo afhankelijk van ben geweest. Ik volg niet alles wat er wordt gezegd of geschreven.”

Ik denk sat Vettel wel een coureur is nog steeds gebeld wordt door de teams met de vraag om eens te komen kletsen i.p.v dat hij een manager nodig heeft die loopt te lobbyen voor hem. Ik begin overigens steeds meer het gevoel te hebben dat we Vettel in 2021 naast Max gaan zien bij Red Bull...

  Red Bull ziet graag 2 sterke coureurs en Vettel kan laten zien hoe goed hij is naast Max daarnaast zijn de kansen op podia en wellicht zelfs overwinningen groter in een Red Bull dan in die Aston Martin! En on-top Max en Sebastian mogen elkaar wel. Beide professionals

  @P.Clemenza: hoezo is Vettel geen teamplayer? Natuurlijk racen de meeste coureurs in eerste instantie puur voor zichzelf. Ik heb echter nooit gehoord dat Vettel een nare teamgenoot is of dat er ruzie is tussen Vettel en een teamgenoot. Zelfs met Leclerc lijkt Vettel prima overweg te kunnen?

  De Multi21 affaire is afkomstig uit het jaar ervoor en heeft Webber op zichzelf afgeroepen. Hij heeft Vettel laten vallen en niet dat was hij niet vergeten.

  Webber was min of meer zelf schuldig aan de multi 21 affaire door zijn eigen teamgenoot de finale race vh jaar ervoor te dwarsbomen..
  
  Maar dat gezegd hebbende, Seb is veel te eerzuchtig, wil de successen zelf opeisen en anders verzuurd de verstandhouding binnen no time..
  Karakters als Hulkenberg, dan moeten ze bij RBR zo iemand naast Max zetten
