McLaren haalt met Miory Steel wederom nieuwe sponsor binnen

Het team van McLaren kende enkele zeer slechte jaren toen het met de Honda-motor reed. Het ging van kwaad tot erger, de resultaten waren niet om over naar huis te schrijven en als gevolg reed het topteam van weleer achteraan het veld. Het aantrekken van James Key als ontwerper en de overstap naar Renault-motoren bracht nieuw leven in het bedrijf.

Revival van McLaren

Daarnaast werd Andreas Seidl van Porsche weggehaald als teambaas en hij leidt het F1-team, terwijl Zak Brown CEO van de McLaren Group is.

Onder leiding van Seidl en Brown heeft McLaren de weg terug naar het podium weten te vinden, met Lando Norris die tijdens de eerste Grand Prix dit seizoen als derde finishte. Het markeert de start van een goed seizoen, waarbij McLaren op de vierde plaats in het kampioenschap staat.

Nieuwe sponsoren

Enkele weken geleden kondigde het team de terugkeer aan van Gulf Oil in de Formule 1, door als partner en sponsor een contract te hebben getekend met het team uit Woking. Nu is de volgende sponsor binnengehaald. Miory Steel uit Wit-Rusland heeft een meerjarig contract getekend. Miory Steel is een staalbedrijf uit Wit-Rusland, dat bekend staat in het vertinnen en koud walsen van plaatmateriaal. Vanaf de Grand Prix in België is het logo van het bedrijf te zien op de neus van de McLaren en op de mouwen van de teamkleding.

McLaren CEO Zak Brown: "We zijn verheugd om onze nieuwe samenwerking met Miory Steel aan te kondigen en bij te dragen aan de groei van hun merk en bedrijf met behulp van het sterke marketingplatform van McLaren. We kijken ernaar uit om dit seizoen het partnerschap te starten en het merk op een echt mondiaal podium onder de aandacht te brengen, terwijl we als team vooruitgang blijven boeken."

      @Alstro: per race wellicht? Het is natuurlijk allemaal afhankelijk van welk team en welke plek. McLaren is, dankzij hun succes, steeds populairder en dus duurder aan het worden. In hun succesjaren, toen men o.a. Johnnie Walker als sub-sponsor hadden, was dit een contract van zo’n 20 milj. Per jaar. Wat de hedendaagse prijzen zijn weet ik niet.

    Mooi om te zien dat McLaren op alle gebieden stappen aan het zetten is om terug te gaan waar het stond, hopelijk zien we ze binnen 2 jaar weer voor de overwinningen vechten.

      Als we politiek en moraal erbij halen dan blijven er weinig sponsoren over vrees is... ik bedoel dat Red Bull slecht is voor je gezondheid dat weten we allemaal en Mateschitz is een fervente aanhanger van Trump en niet vies van wat openlijke rechts klinkende kritieken richting de media over o.a vluchtelingen. Ook schijnt hij er nogal racistische ideeën op na te houden. Dus zullen we dit soort zaken maar buiten de sport houden?
