F1 Podcast: "Breng de bandenoorlog terug in de Formule 1"

Lucas Degen, Jeroen Demmendaal, Charrel Jalving en Jeroen Scholte blikken in hun Formule 1 Podcast terug op de Grand Prix van België 2020. Hamilton evenaart Schumachers record van 9 podia op Spa, langzaam poetst Hamilton de naam van Michael Schumacher uit allerlei lijstjes. Max Verstappen evenaart zijn eigen record van 6 opeenvolgende podiums.

De Grand Prix van Spa-Francorchamps biedt weer voldoende gesprekstof voor de heren aan tafel. "Het zou goed zijn als de coureurs wat meer kunnen pushen", wordt er opgemerkt. De race zou spannender worden als de coureurs niet constant banden hoeven te sparen. Een bandenoorlog zou goed zijn, al zou het afgesproken budget-plafond ook al moeten zorgen voor races waarbij men dichter op elkaar rijdt. De heren bespreken zo wat mogelijke oplossingen die ertoe kunnen leiden dat de kijkers minder snel geneigd zijn om in slaap te vallen tijdens de races.

De heren bespreken ook de aanstaande ban op de verschillende motorafstelligen tijdens kwalificaties en races. En: hoe lang is de donkere tunnel waarin het historische team van Ferrari zich bevindt. De opkomst van Renault is sterk; gaat Max Verstappen daar last van krijgen? Welke kansen gaat Max Verstappen in de Red Bull Racing nog hebben om dit jaar de jongste F1-kampioen ooit te worden?

Nee, niet weer een bandenoorlog. Het was waardeloos om te zien dat de banden in die periode zo bepalend waren. Een zeer goede auto en coureur op het verkeerde rubber was kansloos, dat wil je niet aan zitten gapen.
