Turkije wil 100.000 toeschouwers tijdens F1-race

Voor Ferrari is de afwezigheid van de Tifosi op Monza dit weekend misschien wel een zegen. Ferrari begeeft zich in een diepe competitieve inzinking, waardoor Sebastian Vettel werd gevraagd of hij denkt dat de Italiaanse toeschouwers het legendarische team zouden kunnen uitschelden.

De Duitser denkt echter niet dat dit snel zal gebeuren: "Ik denk niet dat we uitgejouwd zouden worden. De fans hebben waarschijnlijk net zoveel te lijden als het hele team. Dus als ik een keuze had, zou ik de fans nog steeds terughalen, maar op dit moment is het geen keuze voor ons. Het is niet mogelijk."

Het legendarische Monza zal inderdaad een vreemd spektakel worden, maar de trend zonder toeschouwers lijkt langzaam te veranderen. Volgende week in Mugello is er goedkeuring voor 2.880 toeschouwers per dag op de twee grote tribunes, ook al zijn de goedkoopste tickets € 750.

Daarna mikt Sochi op 30.000 mensen met een halve capaciteit, hoopt de Nurburgring op minstens 5.000 en willen Portimao en Imola fans langs het circuit zien.

Turkije met of zonder toeschouwers

De nieuw aangekondigde Turkse Grand Prix voor november heeft aangekondigd dat het veilig plaats kan bieden aan maar liefst 100.000 toeschouwers. Promotor Vural Ak: "Op dit moment kunnen ongeveer 100.000 toeschouwers de race volgen in overeenstemming met de regels die er zijn voor het houden van afstand. We moeten echter overal op voorbereid zijn. Als de pandemische aantallen erger worden, kan de race nog steeds plaatsvinden zonder toeschouwers."

Afgezien daarvan zei Ak dat de locatie in Istanboel dan graag F1 zou blijven hosten na 2021, vooral als de coronacrisis betekent dat sommige Grands Prix opnieuw geannuleerd moeten worden. Ak: "De pandemie van het coronavirus zorgde voor wat aanpassingen, en hier staan we op de kalender. Na de race van 2020 zullen de partijen terugkomen op het bespreken van een langetermijncontract. De Turkse president heeft ons de opdracht gegeven om de Formule 1 terug te halen naar Turkije. We hebben gedaan wat we moesten doen: alle financiële en operationele kosten op ons nemen."

  Een gemiddeld maandsalaris ligt ongeveer op 450 euro per maand in Turkije ik zou hoogstens verbaast zijn als die race volledig uitverkocht zou zijn .
