Haas-coureur Kevin Magnussen ontdekte in de simulator: "Dit is een gaaf circuit"

Het wordt dit weekend een nieuw circuit voor Haas-coureur Kevin Magnussen, aangezien hij voor de allereerste keer op Mugello Circuit gaat rijden tijdens de Toscaanse Grand Prix.

Na wat tijd in de simulator te hebben doorgebracht, zegt Kevin Magnussen enthousiast te zijn over het Mugello-circuit, vertelt de Deense coureur.

“In de simulator ontdekte ik dat de baan echt gaaf was. Het is behoorlijk uniek en anders. Het is een erg snel, vloeiend nummer. Het wordt heel leuk in deze auto's met veel neerwaartse druk. Ik denk ook dat het behoorlijk zwaar gaat worden voor de banden met al die energieke bochten. Inhalen wordt waarschijnlijk moeilijk, maar er is een lang rechte stuk, dus het is misschien niet helemaal onmogelijk. Het zal zeker een uitdaging worden om een andere auto te volgen door al die snelle bochten. "

Max Verstappen vertelde dat hij een hele dag met een GT-auto heeft gereden op de baan, en zodoende de baan leerde kennen. Magnussen deed dat dus in de simulator, maar had ook liever nog wat extra tijd gehad 'in real life'.

'Simdag'

"Het zou geen kwaad kunnen om een dag of twee in een andere formulewagen rond Mugello te rijden. Aan de andere kant heb je met de drie sessies voldoende tijd om de track te leren. Na het doen van een simdag krijg je een redelijk goed idee van wat je kunt verwachten. Ik maak me er niet al te veel zorgen over, maar elk klein beetje helpt. "

De Toscaanse Grand Prix is de negende Grand Prix in 11 weekenden voor Formule 1.
