Christian Horner: Albon verwisselen voor Gasly naast Max Verstappen heeft geen zin

Christian Horner benadrukt het nog maar eens: Albon wordt niet vervangen door Gasly. "Dat heeft geen zin"

Niet alleen Gasly, maar ook wereldkampioen Lewis Hamilton- die graag online games speelt met de Fransoos- stuurden al vermoeiend vaak aan op een rijderswissel bij Red Bull en AlphaTauri. Horner is er ook al vaak op in gegaan, eerder deze week sloeg Helmut Marko hard met de vuist op tafel.

Het team van Red Bull Racing gaat als een leger die de koning verdedigt rondom Albon staan: De Thaise jongeling blijft bij Red Bull Racing. Wellicht is er geluisterd naar de commentaren van Jan Lammer, die dacht dat het team wel eens geleerd kan hebben van het naar zijn smaak te vroeg terugplaatsen van Pierre Gasly naar AlphaTauri.

Red Bull's teambaas Christian Horner zegt in Mugello: "De beslissing wordt later dit jaar genomen, maar er is geen reden voor ons om nu druk te zetten en te situatie te wisselen. We willen wat problemen aan de RB16 aan de kaak stellen en beginnen die nu te begrijpen en te boven komen, dan zien we daarna wel verder."

Horner spreekt van AlphaTauri nu als zusterteam, in plaats van junioren-team. "De aspiraties van dat team gaan verder dan waar de doelen van Toro Rosso lagen", zegt Horner.

De teams gaan meer samenwerken, zo legt hij uit dat er vanaf volgend jaar gebruik gemaakt wordt van dezelfde windtunnel, ook omdat dat financieel veel logischer is.

Ook zegt Horner dat dit niet betekent dat zij niet meer in jong talent blijven investeren, daar gaat Red Bull gewoon mee door.

Het is tijd voor een ervaren vent met bewezen capaciteiten. Vettel is een gemiste kans. Hulkenberg of Perez zouden beide mooi rugdekking kunnen geven aan Max en die Bull thuis brengen waar ie hoort.

Laat Albon en Gasly het bij AT uitvechten met Tsunoda als 3e rijder.
