McLaren test Mercedes-neus tijdens vrije training

McLaren testte gisteren met een Mercedes-achtige neus tijdens de training op vrijdag in Mugello. De homologatiedeadline van de F1, die wijzigingen aan de auto's voor 2021 ernstig zal beperken vanwege de coronacrisis, loopt eind september af.

In gesprek met Auto Motor und Sport zegt McLaren-teambaas Andreas Seidl: "We wilden onze experimentele neus gebruiken om te controleren of de gegevens van de windtunnel overeenkomen met de realiteit op het circuit. Als alles werkt, kan de nieuwe neus later in het seizoen op de wagen gezet worden."

Carlos Sainz, die de nieuwe neus had, merkte op: "Het had dit jaar op de auto moeten zitten, maar andere onderdelen van deze bodykit zijn nog niet klaar. Daarom testen we ze één voor één."
