Ferrari: "Wij houden niet van excuses"

Ferrari-directeur Louis Camilleri hoopt dat flexibiliteit in de F1-regels het beroemde team uit Maranello helpt zichzelf uit de crisis te trekken. De partijdige Italiaanse uit na elke race pittige kritiek op Ferrari, waarbij Corriere dello Sport voorspelt dat het lang zal duren voordat de situatie verandert. "Terwijl de andere teams zich ontwikkelen, zinkt Ferrari steeds verder weg in een ongekende crisis."

Ferrari-voorzitter John Elkann geeft toe dat Ferrari's enorme geschiedenis in de F1, die in Mugello werd gemarkeerd met de 1000e race van het team, ook druk creëert. Hij vertelde Sky Italia: "Er zijn veel redenen waarom we ons in deze situatie bevinden, maar bij Ferrari houden we niet van excuses. Het zal tijd kosten. We hebben een moeilijk seizoen voor de boeg, dit jaar en volgend jaar, en in 2022 krijgen we de kans om op een nieuwe basis opnieuw te starten."

Vooruitgang is niet winnen

Door de coronacrisis zijn teams namelijk beperkt in de autowijzigingen die ze tussen 2020 en 2021 kunnen doorvoeren.

"Er is niets erger dan valse hoop geven, maar we moeten vooruitgang boeken voor 2021. Maar vooruitgang betekent op het podium staan, niet meteen het winnen van races."

Moeilijk

Camilleri is het ermee eens dat Ferrari's terugkeer naar competitiviteit tijd zal kosten. De CEO zei hierover: "Ik hoop dat we volgend jaar met een beetje meer flexibiliteit in de regelgeving het in ieder geval ons mogelijk maar om beter te presteren ten opzichte van dit jaar. We zitten nu in een gat en we weten dat we in een gat zitten. Realistisch gezien zal het moeilijk worden."

Ik vind dat Ferrari dit jaar goed incasseert, zeker gezien hun status. Nemen alles vol op de kin zoals een Muhammad Ali dat kon.

  Nee hoor. Maar als je volledig eerlijk bent zeg je dat je motor niet (volledig) legaal was en je daarom terug bent gevallen. Dat heb ik nog nergens mogen lezen.
  
  Verder vind ik dat met name de coureurs eerlijk zijn in hun verwachtingen en hun reacties op de prestaties. Het gaat mij om Binotto en hoger...

  @Driver87: precies en de roep om flexibiliteit in de regels is een oproep aan de FIA (Todt) om ze meer vrijheid te geven deze anders te interpreteren (zie Fuel Flow Gate vorig jaar).

Elkann, alle respect voor de Agnelli's en Co., maar tijdens de race op Monza zat onze voorzitter op zijn jacht op Capri.
Ik vind Elkann niet de juiste voorzitter, mijn invulling zou zijn Di Montezemolo terug als Ferrari baas, Jean Alesi teambaas en Binotto als capo van de technische afdeling.

  Mee eens Monza, maar Binotto heeft wel voor trucjes gekozen met die motor en een groot risico genomen door ineens veel meer vermogen te hebben dan Merc in 2019. Daarvoor had Merc consequent dr sterkste motor. Ik heb je al vaker gevraagd hoe je over Machionne denkt. In mijn ogen is hij verantwoordelijk voor de definitieve downfall van het team. Eerst icoon Di Montezemolo eruit gewerkt, toen als pionnen de ene teambaas na de andere aangesteld en de druk er zo op gezet dat er een angst en afreken cultuur ontstond waarin niemand verantwoordelijkheid durft te nemen. Binotto vs Arrivabene en Leclerc vs Vettel is ook zijn erfenis en en passant heeft hij Lancia nog even om zeep geholpen. Verder vond ik het zak van een kerel met zijn uitgestreken smoelwerk.
