Mick Schumacher: "Blij dat er fans op tribunes zitten tijdens mijn F1-debuut"

Mick Schumacher zegt dat hij blij is dat hij volgende week vrijdag zijn officiële F1-raceweekenddebuut maakt voor Duitse toeschouwers. De Nurburgring heeft lokale toestemming gekregen om kaartjes te verkopen aan 20.000 toeschouwers per dag.

Mick Schumacher zal zijn debuut maken bij Alfa Romeo en is daar uiteraard dolblij mee: "Ik kijk absoluut uit naar de Nurburgring. Ik ben ook zo blij dat de fans er zullen zijn."

Met de volledige steun van Ferrari wordt verwacht dat Schumacher volgend jaar zijn officiële racedebuut maakt voor hetzelfde in Zwitserland gevestigde team. Schumacher zal naar verwachting zijn mede-Ferrari-junior Antonio Giovinazzi vervangen en de teamgenoot van Kimi Raikkonen worden.

Giovinazzi reageert op het nieuws: "Er is nog geen nieuws van mij. Ik moet gewoon hard blijven pushen en kijken wat er gebeurt."

Nurburgring-baas Mirco Markfort zegt dat het vrijdagdebuut van Schumacher geweldig nieuws is voor het kaartverkoopproces van het circuit. Tegenover Sport1 vertelt Markfort: "We zijn bijna uitverkocht in de tweede gevorderde boekingsfase. Er is constant activiteit op de website."

Markfort verdedigde Europese rechtsgebieden die evenementen zoals de Formule 1 openstellen voor toeschouwers, zelfs als het aantal coronabesmettingen stijgen. Markfort: "We hebben een bewezen gezondheidsconcept en we hebben het aan de autoriteiten kunnen bewijzen. De evenementenindustrie is de afgelopen maanden zwaar getroffen, wat jammer is, want niet alleen wij maar ook de stadionbeheerders weten wat we doen.
