F3-coureur Theo Pourchaire idolaat van Vettel en Hamilton

Formule 3-coureur Theo Pourchaire maakt de laatste jaren een goede stap in zijn carrière mee. De Fransman valt op in de Formule 3, waar hij dit jaar als tweede eindigde in het kampioenschap. Dat hij opvalt blijkt ook door de steun die hij krijgt namens Sauber, dat hem Junior Driver heeft gemaakt van het F1-team.

De Franse coureur wordt door velen gezien als één van de meest getalenteerde jonge coureurs die er zijn, nadat hij eerst het F4-kampioenschap won en daarna nipt de F3-titel miste in zijn debuutjaar. Hij maakt deel uit van een generatie coureurs die zijn opgegroeid met het kijken naar een deel van het huidige F1-veld, en voor hem hadden Hamilton en Vettel een bijzonder grote impact.

Niet kiezen tussen Vettel en Hamilton

Pourchaire vertelt dat F1-coureurs Sebastian Vettel en Lewis Hamilton zijn idolen zijn: "Ik hou echt van Sebastian Vettel en Lewis Hamilton. Voor mij is het onmogelijk om er maar één te kiezen. Ik heb Vettel bij Red Bull gezien toen ik opgroeide, en nu wint Hamilton alles, dus hij is ook een van mijn idolen. Ze hebben allebei verschillende persoonlijkheden, daarom vind ik ze allebei leuk."

Aangezien de twee het afgelopen decennium op één na alle wereldkampioenschappen hebben gewonnen, zal Pourchaire niet de enige coureur zijn die tegen hen opkijkt.

Dat gezegd hebbende, hoewel ze zijn kinderidolen zijn, zijn Vettel en Hamilton niet de coureurs die hij zich voor het eerst herinnert. Pourchaire: "Ik heb veel herinneringen, maar mijn eerste? Ik denk dat dat de Grand Prix van Monaco was in 2006. Ik ging met mijn vader mee en ik herinner het me nog goed. Ik was in de eerste bocht en ik herinner me dat ik Michael Schumacher en Fernando Alonso zag, de supersterren van 2006."

"Ik was pas drie of vier jaar oud! Ik was heel jong, maar ik herinner het me, ik herinner me het geluid van de auto's en zo. Ik heb er erg van genoten en dat is een van de redenen waarom ik van deze sport houd. Het komt vooral door mijn vader, hij zette me voor het eerst in een kart, maar we hebben veel samen gekeken naar races, zoals de Rally en de Formule 1. Ik heb goede herinneringen."

Pourchaire werd in 2019 onderdeel van Saubers programma voor jonge coureurs en hernieuwde dit jaar zijn verbintenis met het team. Met Sauber hoopt hij zich snel een weg te banen door de gelederen en de F1 in te komen om de kans te krijgen naast Vettel en Hamilton te rijden.

  Cijfers zeggen niet alles over hoe goed een coureur is: Senna haalde ook maar 3 kampioenschappen, maar is dat een mindere coureur dan Vettel, Prost,Schumacher of Hamilton?

  Dat klopt, maar als Vettel en Hamilton nu teamgenoten zouden zijn , dan wist ik wel waar ik mijn geld op zou zetten en de mensen die nu hard roepen Vettel zullen de meesten stiekem toch voor Hamilton kiezen , want ik vind dat Vettel het echt niet meer heeft , Hamilton daarentegen wel nog

Leuke coureur die Pourchaire. Hopelijk zien we hem ooit terug in de F1 als hij zo doorgaat.
