Sebastian Vettel: "Weet niet of 2-daags F1-weekend beter is"

Sebastian Vettel is er niet van overtuigd dat de Formule 1 moet overschakelen naar een 2-daags F1-weekend. Vooruitlopend op het geplande tweedaagse schema op Imola, kwam het onderwerp afgelopen weekend naar voren op de Nürburgring toen de medische helikopter vrijdag niet kon vliegen en daardoor de twee vrije trainingen werden afgelast.

De Mercedes-coureurs Lewis Hamilton en Valtteri Bottas, Max Verstappen en andere prominente figuren zeiden dat het resulterende tweedaagse format goed werkte, terwijl Toto Wolff aangaf dat hij klaar is om 'voor' het format te stemmen.

Minder entertainment

Viervoudig F1-kampioen Vettel is echter niet overtuigd en zegt: "Het tweedaagse weekend had veel minder invloed op het werk van de coureurs dan op het werk van de ingenieurs. Ze hadden niet de mogelijkheid om de verschillende instellingen en de werking van de banden te vergelijken. We waren ook niet in staat om aan nieuwe onderdelen te werken."

"Het tweedaagse format betekent ook dat we een avond verliezen, aangezien de auto tussen de kwalificatie en de race in parc ferme is, wat betekent dat de ingenieurs er niet aan kunnen werken."

"Als de vrijdag wordt afgelast, staat er ook minder entertainment op het programma voor de initiatiefnemers (de promotors van elke Grand Prix). Ik weet niet wat de toekomst brengt, maar ik denk dat het beter is om de donderdag van een F1-weekend af te halen in plaats van de vrijdag."

De meeste die vrije training kijken hebben voor kompleet weekend kaartje. Zullen weinig zijn die kaartje hebben voor alleen vt1 en vt2. Als de prijs hetzelfde blijft. Dan zal het dus niet heel veel uitmaken.
Daarnaast teams hebben ook minder onkosten en slijtage aan de wagen.

Wat gaat dat geven voor de tickets en de organisators fee ?

  Die zijn er wel degelijk, en veel ook. Die kaarten zijn voor iedereen betaalbaar. De weekend kaarten en zondagkaarten zijn veel en veel duurder. De vrijdag is voor veel mensen de enige optie om een sessie bij te wonen. De sponsoren zullen ook dwars gaan liggen. Het zou de races leuker maken maar denk niet dat het er doorheen komt.
