Jarno Opmeer wint eerste en derde virtuele F1-race van 2020

Dit jaar is eindelijk het eSports Formule 1-kampioenschap van start gegaan. De simcoureurs kwamen woensdag -en donderdagavond in actie. Met Nederlands succes. Jarno Opmeer, uitkomend voor het esports-team van Alfa Romeo, won de eerste en derde Grand Prix in een close-finish. De oud-kartkampioen pakt daarmee de leiding in het kampioenschap.

Voor Opmeer ging het niet gemakkelijk, maar dankzij een alternatieve strategie wist de Nederlander de zege te pakken met een tiende verschil op de nummer twee en teamgenoot, Dani Bereznay.

Jarno Opmeer staat bekend om zijn snel te zijn over één ronde, maar om dat te vertalen naar snelheid over een gehele wedstrijd is een ander verhaal. In tegenstelling tot vorig jaar, waarin de Nederlander twee keer zegevierde, bleef hij volledig in controle met de wagen, liet hij pure snelheid zien en gebruikte een slimme strategie.

Woensadagavond was er ook een tweede race. Die werd virtueel gehouden op het circuit van Hanoi in Vietnam. Daarin kon de Nederlander uiteindelijk niet strijden om de eerste plek. Hij reed daarin wel een stint aan de leiding en eindigde als derde.

Jarno Opmeer wint ook derde race

Op de virtuele baan van Shanghai International in China, was het weer een spannende strijd vooraan. Dit keer over twintig ronden.

Jarno Opmeer begon op de gele band, terwijl zijn directe concurrenten op rood startte. Toen deze coureurs banden moesten wisselen, kwam de Nederlander aan de leiding.

Na zijn pitstop in ronde veertien viel de simcoureur met d'r rode band terug naar plaats zeven. De top zat binnen twee seconden van elkaar.

Maar de Nederlander op de versere band ging door het veld als een mes door warme boter. In vijf ronden stelde de Alfa-coureur orde op zaken door de een na de ander in te halen. Pas in de laatste ronden herpakte hij de leiding en kon zegevieren met een miniem verschil naar zijn belagers.

  formule 1 e sports is best leuk om te kijken hoor het is een stuk spannender dan de echte f1 close en fair racing ! zla je aanraden om eens te kijken!

Altijd leuk om te zien dat Jarno het goed doet. Ik heb nog virtueel een seizoen geracet tegen o.a. hem een paar jaar geleden.
