Mogelijk fans afwezig in Portugal door coronavirus

De Grand Prix van Portugal wordt mogelijk zonder fans verreden. Het aantal besmettingen van het coronavirus in het land loopt flink op. Er wordt volgende week door de Portugese RIVM bekeken of in Portimao ook striktere maatregelen nodig zijn om het virus in te dammen.

Voor de wedstrijd zijn 28.000 kaarten verkocht. Het is de derde race waar toeschouwers naar toe mogen komen na Rusland en Duitsland. Maar of de fans de Grand Prix mogen bezoeken is dus nog niet zeker.

Door de pandemie wereldwijd moest de Formule 1 uitwijken naar beschikbare locaties zoals het Autodromo Internacional do Algarve. Het is de eerste keer dat de F1 hier gaat racen en voor het eerst sinds 1997 dat er in Portugal weer een Grand Prix wordt georganiseerd.
