Ferrari hoopt met nieuwe diffuser upgrade in Portugal te kunnen afronden

Ferrari heeft het momenteel erg zwaar. De Italiaanse renstal heeft na de geheime afspraak met de FIA niets meer in te brengen tegen de top twee teams. De renstal staat momenteel op de zesde plaats in het constructeurskampioenschap, de plek waar het hoopte te staan was plek twee. De Italianen zijn niet blij en willen er alles aan doen om hun bolides weer strijdvaardig te maken.

Aerodynamische aanpassingen

Het zal lastig worden, omdat de ontwikkeling beperkt is dit jaar, maar ook volgend jaar. Zo wordt het een hele uitdaging om de kloof met Mercedes en Red Bull Racing te dichten. In de preview van Ferrari op Portugal vertelt Enrico Cardile ons bij over de laatste ontwikkelingen bij de Scuderia. "We hebben al een paar kleine aanpassingen gedaan aan het aeropakket van de auto in Sochi en dingen toegevoegd op de Nürburgring. In Portimao zullen we nog een update hebben, voornamelijk aan de diffuser, waarmee we het programma van de afgelopen maanden compleet maken."

Ontwikkeling gericht op 2021

Ferrari hoopt dit weekend een inschatting te kunnen maken of de aanpassingen aan de auto’s werken. "De indicaties van de afgelopen Grands Prix zijn positief en we hopen dat hetzelfde dit weekend zal gelden. We moeten er rekening mee houden dat de ontwikkeling dit jaar meer dan ooit is gericht op het volgende seizoen. Het zou erg handig zijn om op zijn minst de groep auto's en coureurs aan te voeren die momenteel binnen een paar tienden vechten om plaats vier en lager. Slechts een paar keer dit jaar hebben we kunnen vechten voor een plek op de tweede of derde rij."

Het doel is om de consequentie vast te houden en zich weer met de top te kunnen mengen. "Ons doel tussen nu en december is om consequent voor die plaatsen te vechten. Maar juist omdat dit deel van de grid zo dichtbij elkaar zit, is er nauwelijks iets nodig om jezelf als vierde of twaalfde te kwalificeren, maar dat hoort allemaal bij het spel."

Ik hoop dat ze alle 2 uitvallen en laatste worden. Puur voor een paar reaguurders hier. Die heel stiekem keihard stonden te juichen als Verstappen weer eens pech had/heeft.

Grappig dat hij zegt 'P4 en hoger'. Inderdaad zijn de Mercs en Msx te hoog gegrepen, maar Albon wordt dus door iedereen als te pakken beschouwd. Is ook zo natuurlijk, maar deze zal wel weer lekker binnenkomen bij de Thai.
