Max Verstappen had een goede start, maar zakte snel terug. Sergio Perez haalde hem in, maar door het natte en gladde circuit gleed de 23-jarige Nederlander in op de Racing Point-coureur.

Onzin, Max zat helemaal aan de binnenkant en Checco kon ook niet meer ruimte geven. Beide coureurs deden niks fout, dus dit afdoen als een race incident was de enige juiste beslissing van de wedstrijdleiding.
