Last minute beslissing: "Geen toeschouwers tijdens Grand Prix van Emilia Romagna in Imola"

Nieuwe COVID-19-beperkingen in Italië betekenen dat de Grand Prix van Emilia Romagna nu zonder fans zal moeten plaatsvinden. Het oorspronkelijke plan voor de Emila Romagna Grand Prix, waar de Formule 1 voor het eerst sinds 2006 terugkeert naar het Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, was om 13.000 fans per dag vanaf de tribunes te laten toekijken terwijl de sport steeds vaker fans kan toelaten.

Echter, slechts een week nadat de toegestane deelname aan de Portugese Grand Prix was verlaagd, heeft de Italiaanse regering nu bepaald dat er helemaal geen fans door de poorten van het circuit in Imola mogen.

Nieuwe beperkingen die op zondag werden aangekondigd, legden regels op, zoals bars en restaurants die gedwongen werden om 18.00 uur te sluiten, terwijl menigten niet langer zijn toegestaan bij openluchtsportevenementen, waardoor het circuit in Imola nu wordt gedwongen om de poorten gesloten te houden.

Volgens berichten in Italiaanse media probeerden de officials op het circuit wat fans te sparen voor het evenement en dienden een nieuw voorstel in om slechts 6.500 toeschouwers per dag toe te laten, maar dit kreeg niet de vereiste goedkeuring.

De organisatie bekijkt nu de wettelijke formaliteiten evalueren met betrekking tot de buitengewone annulering van de aanwezigheid van publiek en gastvrijheid en hebben beloofd om tickets binnen de kortst mogelijke tijd terug te betalen.
