Dutch GP op 5 september? Zandvoort wil niet reageren

Dit jaar zou het circuit van Zandvoort na 35 jaar terug komen op de F1-kalender. Door het coronavirus liep alles helemaal anders en werd de Dutch GP geannuleerd, net als vele andere circuits op de kalender. Zandvoort kreeg nog wel aangeboden om later in het jaar op de aangepaste kalender te racen, maar dat wilde de organisatie niet omdat het een race wil met publiek.

Een bewuste keus van de organisatie, waarmee de race doorgeschoven is naar 2021. Volgend jaar moet de Dutch GP op Zandvoort wel plaats gaan vinden. Aanvankelijk werden er berichten verspreid over het eerste weekend van mei, net zoals dit jaar. Dat lijkt echter niet juist, want er is ingezet op 5 september, zo meldt de Telegraaf.

De hoop van de organisatie is dat tegen die tijd het coronavirus onder controle is, waardoor de tribunes volledig oranje kunnen kleuren met 100.000 fans.

Circuitdirecteur Robert van Overdijk wilde echter niet reageren en houdt zijn antwoord diplomatiek: "Het is aan de F1 om de kalender voor 2021 bekend te maken."

    Natuurlijk snap ik dat Zandvoort de race mét fans door wil laten gaan, maar dat was dit jaar niet realistisch en is mogelijk volgend jaar ook nog niet realistisch. En om het dan helemaal niet door te laten gaan vind ik ook erg zonde.

    Even ervanuitgaande dat er in 2021 een vaccin is (wat je nooit 100% zeker kan weten), dan duurt het ook nog even voordat een groot deel van de bevolking die prik heeft gehad.
    Ik zou daarom als organisator niet inzetten op per se een race mét publiek.

      Volgens mij is het idee om alleen de zwakkere uit de samenleving te vaccineren. Voor de meeste mensen maakt het toch niet uit als ze het krijgen en als je het dan wel krijgt is er gewoon ruimte in de ziekenhuizen. Er hoeft dus maar een klein deel een prik te krijgen om een groot probleem op te lossen.

      Ik ben geen kenner als het gaat om vaccins, maar laten we hopen dat we snel weer terecht komen in een normale wereld.
      De nevenschade die nu ontstaat is enorm (werklozen, depressies, andere fysieke en mentale problemen, en in armere landen al acute hongersnood en hongerdoden).
      Als het vaccin veilig is en het prikken van de kwetsbare groep de oplossing is om alle ellende op te lossen hoop ik met je mee.

      Toch ben ik blij dat er sport is op dit moment. Ik zit bijna 24/7 thuis en kom amper buiten, maar ben dan toch blij als er races of andere sporten op tv zijn om te volgen.

    Of het nu Mei of September gaat worden, en met of zonder publiek ben ik van mening dat ze in Zandvoort die race gewoon moeten laten doorgaan. Doen ze dit niet, dan gaat ze dit geheid hun plaats op de de toekomstige kalender kosten, want de FOM, FIA en LM zullen dat zeker niet nog een keer pikken.

    Niemand weet het of er toeschouwers kunnen komen, ik zou nu zeggen je mag blij zijn als er 50.000 mensen bij kunnen zijn. Het is te hopen dat in 2021 alles weer richting normaal gaat, er zijn nogal wat landen in de wereld die het alleen van toerisme moeten hebben, en dat is nog maar 1 branch. Een goed werkend vaccin daar gaat normaal wel enige jaren overheen. Als het voor de zwakkere , oudere en zieken mensen werkt is dat prima, de rest heeft er niet echt last van.
