Leclerc: "Ik wens Vettel het beste, maar ik wil hem wel verslaan"

Een tijdje geleden heeft Sebastian Vettel te horen gekregen dat zijn contract met Ferrari aan het einde van dit jaar niet werd verlengd. Later werd er aangekondigd dat de Duitser - en viervoudig wereldkampioen - zou gaan rijden voor het team van Aston Martin, die in 2021 haar debuut maakt in de Formule 1.

Dit betekende uiteraard dat Charles Leclerc een nieuwe teamgenoot kreeg, en niet meer met Sebastian Vettel samen zou rijden. Daarover meldde de Monegask het volgende: "Ik hoop heel erg dat zijn nieuwe avontuur bij Aston Martin goed voor hem gaat bevallen", zo vertelt Leclerc. "Dankzij Seb ben ik gegroeid als coureur, maar ook als persoon", zo onthult Charles Leclerc.

"Ik was heel erg onder de indruk hoe hij met het team samenwerkte, de manier hoe hij data evalueert en op wat voor manier hij feedback geeft", zo vertelt Leclerc. "Hij is ontzettend professioneel en iedereen respecteert hem. Ook al waren er soms wat problemen tussen ons op de baan, zoals in Brazilië afgelopen jaar, de respect tussen ons is nooit verloren gegaan", zo vertelt Leclerc grappend.

Echter, de Monegask hoopt dat Ferrari het volgend jaar beter treft dan nu, en hoopt dan ook dat het volgend seizoen vóór Racing Point - die volgend jaar Aston Martin zal worden genoemd - zal komen te staan. "Ik weet zeker dat we het goed zullen doen bij Ferrari en dat we volgend seizoen een flinke stap kunnen zetten, zodat we uiteindelijk voor ze komen te staan", zo sluit Charles af.

Vettel is sneller dan Lecerc vooral op zondag. En ja, dat lijkt een vreemde opmerking gezien dit seizoen. Kan ik een heel betoog over houden. Zit niemand op te wachten lijkt me. Leclerc is zeer goed. Wat moet hij nog verslaan? Hij heeft al niets meer van Vettel overgelaten. Ik zou zeggen compleet destroyed.

  Hij bedoeld dus ook volgend jaar. Want dit jaar word Ferrari verslagen door RP. En dan kan er in eens een andere Vettel aan de start staan.

  Waar halen mensen vandaan dat begin dit jaar Vettel en Leclerc aan elkaar gewaagd waren? Kwalificaties?
  Want het was in race 1 al duidelijk. Leclerc die t podium haalde en Vettel die meteen weer achterstevoren stond.
  
  En ook daarna volgde al snel een 2e podium voor Leclerc. En Vettel dan?
  
  Dat bizar grote puntenverschil is juist begin dit jaar al ontstaan. Dus 1.5 jaar aan elkaar gewaagd klopt gewoon niet. 1 jaar, ja ok... refererend naar vorig jaar. Maar dit jaar gewoon totaal niet. Vanaf race 1 dus al.

En de verhoudingen dit jaar hebben niet de oorzaak dat Vettel niet snel genoeg is. NB: hij heeft wel cruciale fouten gemaakt toen het er om spande. Terechte kritiek.

  Ik lees wat je schrijft, Nino Farina. Maar Begrijpen doe ik het niet. Ik vind Leclerc onvoorstelbaar goed en dat komt in alle stats naar voren. Bij toeval kan een rijder een keer een slechte dag hebben. Of over een seizoen 2 keer of 3 keer. Maar elke race weer?
  Ik denk zelfs dat het precies andersom is dan dat. Vettel eenft 2 of 3 keer redelijk in de buurt kunnen zitten.
  
  Overigens respecteer ik je mening hoor. Alleen begrijp ik hem niet.

  Naar mijn mening heeft Lec nog altijd ander matriaal gekregen als Vettel. Die hebben ze alleen nog voor het uitdienen van zijn contract. De overwinningen en poles die Lec heeft zijn allemaal met een niet te bewijzen illegale motor.

  Vettel sneller op zondag? Sorry, ik zie het echt niet.
  
  En natuurlijk gaat ie bij AM mooie resultaten laten zien. Stroll oprollen is ook niet heel moeilijk, en daarnaast zal Vettel zijn motivatie ook wel weer terug vinden daar. Ik gun dat Vettel ook enorm, maar los daarvan is Leclerc in dit tijdperk wel gewoon de betere coureur (en hij wordt alsmaar beter terwijl Vettel zijn top al achter hem ligt).
