Rusland een FIA Grade 1-circuit rijker

Rusland is een Formule 1-circuit rijker. De FIA heeft namelijk een licentie afgegeven voor het Igora Drive-circuit. De baan bevindt zich net buiten de grootste stad van Rusland, Sint-Petersburg.

De directeur van het circuit zei na het binnenhalen van de licentie dat het nu races mag organiseren van het hoogste niveau. "De afgegeven licentie van het hoogste niveau betekent dat Igora Drive nu het recht heeft om alle series van de internationale autoracewedstrijden te hosten, inclusief Formule 1 GP's."

"De erkenning van naleving van internationale normen is een nieuwe belangrijke stap in de ontwikkeling van de autoracesporten in St. Petersburg, Rusland en de rest van de wereld."

Rusland heeft nu drie circuits met een licentie voor Formule 1-races. Het Sochi Autodrom, dat sinds 2014 gastheer is van de Russische Grand Prix. Het tweede circuit is Moscow Raceway-circuit, die een vergunning kreeg in oktober 2014 van de FIA om F1-races te organiseren. De laatste is het Igora Drive-circuit.

Het circuit werd gebouwd in 2015 op ongeveer 55 kilometer van Sint-Petersburg. Het racecircuit van 4.084 kilometer grenst aan een multisportcomplex met rallycross- en motorcrossbanen, een kartbaan, evenals een off-road circuit. Het circuit is ontworpen door Hermann Tilke, die we kennen van veel FIA Grade 1-circuits, waaronder het Sochi Autodrom.

De kartbaan heeft een brug. Dan denk je, oh leuk dan is het een acht, waardoor er even veel bochten naar links en naar rechts zijn, maar nee, de lus is precies verkeerd om, met nog meer bochten naar links. Wie verzint zo iets?
