De Grand Prix op Instanbul Park was er weer eentje om in te lijsten. Met een glad circuit en een verregende zaterdag en zondag gebeurde ervan alles wat je op voorhand niet kon voorspellen. De Duitse succesformatie van Mercedes leek er niet aan te pas te komen, maar Hamilton hield zijn hoofd cool en knokte zich in natte en listige omstandigheden naar de zege en de historische zevende wereldtitel. De Britse coureur staat nu op gelijk hoogte met de legendarische Michael Schumacher. Iets wat lang niet voor mogelijk werd gehouden.

Max Verstappen leek de man van het weekend te worden na zijn dominantie optreden op de vrijdag en zaterdag, maar greep uiteindelijk naast alle prijzen. Op de zaterdag snoepte de Canadees Lance Stroll onverwacht de poleposition af van de Nederlander. Op de zondag kende de 23-jarige Red Bull-coureur een slechte middag nadat hij was gespind achter Sergio Perez en zag daardoor een kans op de overwinning als sneeuw voor de zon verdwijnen. Sebastian Vettel pakte in de allerlaatste bochten alsnog de laatste podiumplek doordat teamgenoot Charles Leclerc zich vergaloppeerde na een aanvalspoging op Perez voor de tweede positie.

In de F1-Podcast bespreekt host Lucas Degen samen met o.a Charrel Jalving, Jeroen Demmendaal en Jeroen Scholte de zaken van het afgelopen weekend. Daarin komt aan bod: de prestatie van Hamilton en Max Verstappen, het podium van Sebastian Vettel, de pole van Lance Stroll, de rijderskunsten van Sergio Perez, de ontelbare spins van Valteri Bottas, Alexander Albon die een kans voor open doel mistte en natuurlijk de luistervragen.
