Fuoco en Shwartzman testen in Abu Dhabi voor Ferrari

Antonio Fuoco en Robert Shwartzman, beide huidig Formule 2-coureurs, zullen eind dit seizoen voor Ferrari testen op Yas Marina, na de Grand Prix van Abu Dhabi. De beide Ferrari-junioren zullen daar de SF1000 testen, als onderdeel van de 'Young driver test".

Antonio Fuoco is al sinds 2013 betrokken bij Ferrari, en heeft sinds 2018 - toen hij zevende werd in het Formule 2-kampioenschap - een ontwikkeling- en simulator-rol op zich genomen. In 2015 en 2016 testte hij nota bene ook al voor Ferrari. "Het voelt erg goed om eindelijk weer eens in een echte auto te kunnen zitten, na zo veel uren in de virtuele SF1000 te hebben doorgebracht", zo meldt Fuoco. "Voor iemand in mijn positie is het best nuttig om af en toe het echte spul te vergelijken met het gene wat we in de simulator zien."

Robert Shwartzman - momenteel vijfde in het Formule 2-kampioenschap - is een buitenbeentje voor de Formule 2-titel. Toch lijkt het er steeds meer op dat de Ferrari-junior ook volgend jaar een junior-rol blijft houden wetende dat Alfa Romeo hun huidige line-up behoudt, en dat Haas zeer waarschijnlijk met Mick Schumacher en Nikita Mazepin in zee gaat. "Het is zeer gaaf om de SF1000 te mogen gebruiken direct na het seizoen", aldus Shwartzman. "Ik heb in september al de SF71H mogen proberen, dat was ook erg bijzonder. Ook al is die auto al bijna drie jaar oud", zo concludeert Shwartzman.

Mede Ferrari-junior Callum Ilott zal na de Grand Prix van Abu Dhabi testen voor Alfa Romeo. Hij was één van de drie Ferrar-junioren die in aanmerking zou komen voor een Formule 1-stoeltje, maar ook voor hem lijkt het er op dat zijn kansen steeds geringer worden.

Daarmee lijkt het toch wel zeker te zijn dat Mick Schumi bij Haas aan de gang gaat. hopelijk kan Haas naast hem iig een andere (betere) paydriver vinden dan die Mazepin

Fuoco is al een tijd geen F2 coureur meer. Volgens mij al iets van 2 jaar niet meer. De eerste keer dat ik de naam Fuoco tegenkwam was toen Max id de Florida Winter Series zijn autosport debuut maakte. Zo zie je maar hoe de carriereontwikkeling verschillen per coureur!

  Yep dat klopt, hij is echter geen huidige F2 coureur zoals in het artikel vermeld wordt. Dat is alweer zo'n twee jaar geleden.
