Carey maakt bekend: "Willen F1-kalender met 24 races"

De geruchten gingen de afgelopen weken al langer maar F1-baas Chase Carey heeft nu bevestigd dat de koningsklasse in de toekomst wil groeien naar 24 races per seizoen. Er is nog ruimte op toekomstige Formule 1-kalenders voor meer dan 23 races die gepland staan voor 2021.

Dat is het nieuws van Chase Carey, die tijdens een teleconferentie voor investeerders zei dat hij zich zeer goed voelt over zijn relatie met huidige en toekomstige racepromotors. Carey: "Veel plaatsen waar we dit jaar hebben geracet, hebben grote belangstelling getoond voor nieuwe races, en andere landen zijn meer dan ooit geïnteresseerd."

"We hopen de komende jaren naar een kalender van 24 races te gaan, en we zullen waarschijnlijk een aantal races afwisselen zodat we een aantal nieuwe partners kunnen huisvesten. Het roteren van races zal echter minimaal zijn aangezien lange partnerschappen de belangrijkste prioriteit is voor de Formule 1."

De Amerikaan, die in januari 2021 wordt vervangen door Stefano Domenicali, zei ook dat de Formule 1 hoopt de Paddock Club volgend jaar terug te brengen naar de F1. "We plannen evenementen met fans in 2021 en hopen die een normale ervaring kunnen bieden."

    Als Lewis dan na volgend jaar stops (wishful thinking) en Max komt in een dominante auto terecht (nog meer wishful thinking) kan Max met 4 jaar totale dominantie in ieder geval het pole-record van Lewis afpakken (en toen ging de wekker).

      ik hoop dat het na deze periode van dominantie even gedaan is met de dominantie, van wie dan ook, hoop dat de boel dichter op elkaar komt

      tenzij Ferrari opeens dominant is, dan heb ik bovenstaande never nooit geroepen, dan ontken ik alles

      Die eerste zin, daar ben ik het eigenlijk gewoon helemaal mee eens.
      Ik zit niet te wachten op een nieuwe dominantie van welk team dan ook. Of dit nu Ferrari, Red Bull, Mercedes, McLaren, Renault, Haas, Williams, Alpha Tauri, Alfa Romeo of Aston Martin/Racing Point is.
      Ik wil gewoon races zien waar om alle plekken geraced wordt, inhaal acties, goede verdedigende moves en vooral dat er meerdere coureurs van verschillende teams onder normale omstandigheden kans maken op een podium of winst.

    Voor 2021 zal het denk ik grote deels het zelfde verlopen als in 2020, vaccin zal waarschijnlijk komen in 2021, ze weten nog niet wanneer, bij wie het zal werken, en hoeveel ze er krijgen. Hier hoef je niet voor geleerd te hebben dat er niet heel veel zal gaan veranderen. Eerst ouderen, zieken, en de medewerkers daarom heen. Ik zelf reken op een 3 jaar van begin tot het eind, ik heb het over Nederland, in vele landen is de situatie net zoals in de EU. Dus racen met publiek zie ik ook niet zo gauw gebeuren, of klein aantal.

    Hoe meer race, hoe beter. Zeker zal het zwaar zijn voor de monteurs en al het ander personeel. Maar kom op hey, ze werken in de hoogste categorie van de autosport. En bevalt het de jongens en meisjes niet, zijn ze toch vrij om op te stappen. Denk dat er genoeg staan te trappelen om de vrijkomende vacatures in te vullen.
