Jean Todt zet namens FIA vrijwilligers in het zonnetje

Tijdens Grand Prix-weekenden of andere autosportevenementen zijn vrijwilligers onmisbaar. Mede dankzij hun inzet wordt de veiligheid van fans, coureurs en teams gewaarborgd en kunnen de wedstrijden met succes worden georganiseerd. Tijdens het FIA Volunteer Weekend in Bahrein wil de overkoepelende federatie deze mensen extra in het zonnetje zetten.

In dit weekend werden er speciale prijzen uitgereikt aan vrijwilligers die een belangrijke bijdrage leverden in de mondiale autosport. In de golfstaat nam FIA-president Jean Todt deel aan deze gelegenheid, samen met de aanwezige marshals en medisch personeel. Daar feliciteerde de Fransman ook de acht officials en marshals die een award in ontvangst mochten nemen als dank voor hun fantastische werk.

''Ik wil alle vrijwilligers bedanken voor hun toewijding en energie om ervoor te zorgen dat alles veilig en succesvol verloopt tijdens elk FIA sportevenement. Zonder hen, kunnen we niet racen. In deze onzekere tijden, wil ik extra aandacht geven aan het vrijwillige mediche personeel. Deze mensen hebben een belangrijke rol gespeeld in de bestrijding van het coronavirus.''

Bij een Formule 1-wedstrijd kan het aantal vrijwilligers oplopen tot 150 mensen. Het zijn meestal lokale 'hulptroepen' die bekend zijn met het circuit.
