Gerucht: start 2021-seizoen uitgesteld vanwege twijfels over GP Australië

De Formule 1 heeft onlangs een voorlopige kalender geüpload, waarop te zien is dat het 2021-seizoen 23 races kent. Echter, inmiddels verschijnen er geruchten op dat het seizoen later begint dan gepland; RaceFans weet te melden dat het doorgaan van de Grand Prix van Australië al in twijfel wordt getrokken.

De Formule 1 begint sinds lange tijd het seizoen in Melbourne, op het Albert Park stratencircuit. Vorig jaar was dat ook de bedoeling, maar het evenement werd gecanceld vanwege de gevolgen van het coronavirus. Fans stonden in de rij terwijl het evenement werd afgelast.

Vlak voor de jaarwisseling heeft Australië erg strenge maatregelen genomen om ervoor te zorgen dat het virus - die wereldwijd al voor 1,8 miljoen doden heeft gezorgd - geen terugslag zal maken. Formule 1-personeel zal voor aanvang van het evenement eerst veertien dagen in Australië in quarantaine moeten, of ze zullen zelf vluchten moet charteren om aldaar in een zogeheten 'biosphere' leven, wat we in Abu Dhabi ook zagen. Echter, beide opties hebben serieuze gevolgen wat betreft financiën en logistiek.

Het is daarom ook geen verrassing dat de kaartverkoop voor het evenement - dat eerst gepland was voor 21 maart 2021 - nog niet begonnen is. Echter, niet alle hoop is verloren. Om ervoor te zorgen dat het evenement kan doorgaan zullen de werkzaamheden op Albert Park eind januari moeten beginnen. De organisatie en alle belanghebbenden hebben daarom nog twee weken om een beslissing te maken.

Indien het seizoen niet doorgaat zal de opening-ronde van het 2021-seizoen gehouden worden op het Bahrain International Circuit, waar de Formule 1 nog geen maand geleden nog reed.

  Ja en met deze stomme maatregelen zal het ook nooit meer weg gaan. Kans op mutatie naar gevaarlijker varianten neemt alleen maar toe

  @skibeest, mutaties komen niet door maatregelen, maar door besmettingen . Juist door maatregelen heb je minder kans op mutaties niet meer.

Ik denk dat de hele agenda wel op de schop kan.
in ons geval Zandvoort zonder publiek alleen als de staat het bonnetje betaald.
Dat gaat natuurlijk niet gebeuren dus rip Zandvoort 2021.

  Ik mag toch hopen dat het rond de tijd dat Zandvoort op de kalender staat al weer een stuk beter gaat. De zomer en vaccinaties zullen toch echt wel hun werk gaan doen. En anders hebben we tegen die tijd gewoon allemaal al corona gehad

Ben benieuwd wat 2021 gaat brengen qua F1. Hebben ze geen rekening gehouden met de situatie toen ze de planning maakten of waren ze in Australie iets to optimisch. De eerste races zouden beter gewoon zonder publiek gepland zijn zodat je die toe kan laten als het kan maar gewoon door kan gaan als het niet kan
