Sponsor BWT met stille trom vertrokken uit de Formule 1

De transformatie van het team van Racing Point naar Aston Martin F1 Team gaat gepaard met de komst van een nieuwe titelsponsor. De Britse renstal verzekerde zich van de steun van IT-bedrijf Cognizant. Dit gaat ten koste van watertechnologiebedrijf BWT, dat met stille trom vertrokken lijkt uit de Formule 1.

BWT verbond zich begin 2017 aan het team dat toen nog Force India heette en fungeerde de voorbije vier seizoenen als hoofdsponsor/titelsponsor. Aan het Oostenrijkse bedrijf was het ook te danken dat wagens van Force India en later Racing Point nadien duidelijk te herkennen waren. De roze livery was immers ingegeven door wensen van BWT.

Aston Martin F1 Team en Cognizant slaan voor 2021 een andere richting in, waardoor er geen plek meer is voor BWT. De firma wordt niet meer genoemd op de nieuwe website van Aston Martin F1 Team en ook niet aan een van de andere Formule 1-teams gelinkt. Mogelijk zijn de overige teams terughoudend omdat ze hun kleurstelling niet (ingrijpend) willen aanpassen, al zijn de meeste renstallen ook al voorzien van (grote) partners.

Wellicht is de directie van het watertechnologiebedrijf van mening dat de missie geslaagd is. Ze gingen de Formule 1 in om meer naamsbekendheid te vergaren en dat is gelukt. Zo lijkt met BWT een geldschieter die volgens de verhalen jaarlijks zeker tussen de 15 en 25 miljoen euro in de Formule 1 pompte stilletjes uit de koningsklasse van de autosport te verdwijnen.

Zonde als ze helemaal vertrekken uit de F1.
Een team als Haas maar ook Williams zou zo'n sponsor goed kunnen gebruiken en de livery brengt ook wat kleur op de grid, dus ik hoop dat ze overstappen naar een ander team in de F1.

  Wat naamsbekendheid betreft is hun missie denk ik wel geslaagd, wat ze als bedrijf nu doen (iets met water??) weet ik nog steeds niet. Ik heb ook nog nooit ergens een product van BWT ergens gezien.
  
  Al met al wel jammer, want alhoewel ik en sich geen fan van roze ben vond ik de livery wel mooi en leuk inderdaad wat kleur op de grid. Misschien kunnen ze wat kleur gaan brengen bij Williams? Of anders Haas inderdaad?

  @Dutchiceman, ik zag die kleur best vaak.
  In iedere raceklasse was BWT wel aanwezig de afgelopen jaren.
  Zowel auto's als motoren, op de weg en in het zand.
