Rechter schort contract tussen Formule 1 en Sao Paulo op

Een Braziliaanse rechter heeft het nieuwe Grand Prix-contract dat de Formule 1 met Sao Paulo sloot voorlopig ongeldig verklaard. Daarbij gaat het vooral om de afspraken die de stad maakte met de nieuwe promotor MC Brazil Motorsport Holding. De rechter heeft Sao Paulo vijf dagen de tijd gegeven om aanvullende documenten te presenteren.

Daaruit moet blijken of het contract van MC Brazil Motorsport Holding rechtsgeldig is. De rechter laakt het gebrek aan transparantie bij de toekenning van de promotierechten aan deze partij en is van mening dat er geen sprake is geweest van een proces waarbij meerdere bieders een eerlijke kans krijgen. Er was geen tender voor het contract uitgeschreven.

Aangezien het om (veel) belastinggeld gaat, had dat eigenlijk wel gemoeten. Sao Paulo heeft zich namelijk opgeworpen als redder van de Grand Prix op Interlagos. De stad sloot in november een nieuw vijfjarig contract met de Formule 1 en betaalt daar jaarlijks 18 miljoen dollar voor aan de nieuwe promotor. In ruil daarvoor heet het evenement nu niet langer de Grand Prix van Brazilië, maar de Grand Prix van Sao Paulo.

Door de uitspraak van de rechter zal de Braziliaanse stad eerst zijn best moeten doen om aan te tonen dat alles eerlijk verlopen is.

  we weten allemaal dat zaken doen Brazilië en alle zuid-amerikaanse landen gepaard gaat met veel zwart geld en omkopen van allerlei schimmige politieke figuren en afhankelijk wie het politieke proces voert zal een rechter aanstellen die op hun hand is, dit kan nog een hoop ellende veroorzaken.
