Bocht 10 op Barcelona met nieuwe configuratie een 'stuk sneller'

Het Circuit de Catalunya nabij Barcelona heeft de vernieuwing van bocht 10 bijna voltooid. De bocht is in oude staat hersteld; van een hairpin naar een meer vloeiende bocht linksaf. Er is een nieuwe asfaltlaag gelegd en nu moeten alleen de kerbstones nog worden aangebracht.

Met de nieuwe configuratie verdwijnt een extra inhaalmogelijkheid op het circuit van Barcelona, maar volgens oud Formule 1-coureur Pedro de la Rosa blijft het interessant voor de fans. De rijders nemen nu meer snelheid mee het stadion-gedeelte in, met alle mogelijke gevolgen van dien.

De la Rosa: "Het is een evolutie die de fans zal bevallen. De bocht is nu ronder en een stuk sneller, wat de coureurs in staat stelt om meer snelheid mee te nemen naar het stadion-gedeelte en dat maakt de bochten daar meer delicaat. Het wordt interessant."

Het Circuit de Catalunya is op 9 mei gastheer voor de Grand Prix van Spanje.
