Lotus Renault GP weerspreekt financiële moeilijkheden

Lotus Renault GP-teambaas Eric Boullier heeft ontkend dat zijn equipe in financiële problemen verkeert. Er zou minder geld dan verwacht binnen komen en het team zou nog een rekening van 2 miljoen dollar open hebben staan bij Renault voor motoren, zo meldde Auto Motor und Sport. Een slecht geïnformeerd stuk waar niets van waar is, zo stelt Boullier tegenover Autosport.

Het is grappig hoe zaken opgeblazen kunnen worden. Het is misschien toeval, maar de oude garde van Renault leeft in Monaco en misschien verspreiden zij deze geruchten. De journalist die het artikel schreef is niet bij me geweest om het te controleren. Had hij dat gedaan, dan was ik bereid geweest om mijn boeken open te doen voor hem. Zoals elke zaak hebben wij leningen uitstaan en zelf investeringen gedaan, maar we hebben geen schuld bij Renault voor 2011. We hebben een meerjarig contract en een speciale overeenkomst met Renault. We moeten nog leningen afbetalen in de toekomst, maar dat is in de toekomst en niet dit jaar. We hebben absoluut geen problemen. Alles is in orde, aldus Boullier.
