Wat als de confetti-livery van Mercedes echt zou gebeuren?

Tegenwoordig is het niet meer vanzelfsprekend dat het Mercedes AMG F1-team met een zilverkleurige auto rijden. Waar het team voorheen altijd met zilveren auto's reed (de bijnaam was immers de Silver Arrows), reed het team uit Brackley tijdens het 2020-seizoen met een zwarte wagen.

Door de diverse gebeurtenissen in Amerika die hebben gezorgd voor grotere aandacht rondom diversiteit besloot het team een statement te maken en last-minute met een wijziging te komen wat betreft de livery waarmee de tests zijn verreden dat jaar.

Echter, in aanloop van het 2021-seizoen had de admin van de social media accounts van het Mercedes-team zijn lolbroek aan, en besloot een "weddenschap" aan te gaan met hun volgers. Bij 1 miljoen volgers zou de volgende Mercedes-wagen een confetti-livery hebben.

De social media-post heeft het bij lange na niet zo goed gedaan als menig Formule 1-fan had gehoopt; in plaats van in de miljoen retweets te komen bleef het getal hangen rond de 40 duizend. Maar wat nou als het wél was gebeurd?

Een gebruiker op Reddit heeft het touw zelf in handen genomen en heeft met behulp van knappe fotoshop-skills een render gecreëerd waarbij de confetti-livery goed te zien is. Zie het resultaat hieronder!

Het is nog niet zeker met wat voor kleurenschema het kampioenenteam dit jaar zal rijden, maar rumor has it dat het team wederom weer met een zwarte kleurenschema zal gaan rijden.

Niet bij 1 miljoen volgers maar bij 1 miljoen 're-tweets'. Tevens heeft Toto al een aantal maanden geleden bevestigd dat de auto voor '21 gewoon weer zwart is.

Over dat "Een gebruiker op Reddit": het zou wel zo netjes zijn om Daniel Crossman Design gewoon even bij naam te noemen. Zijn logo staat nota bene al op het plaatje.
