Paul Ricard onder handen genomen door firma achter renovatie Zandvoort

Het circuit van Paul Ricard heeft de baan opnieuw laten asfalteren en vrijwel alle bochten opnieuw laten profileren, zoals dat zo mooi heet. Het werk is verricht door Studio Dromo, het bedrijf dat ook verantwoordelijk is geweest voor de renovatie van het circuit van Zandvoort. Verwacht echter geen kombochten op Paul Ricard, de veranderingen aan het Franse circuit zijn slechts subtiel.

Studio Dromo was in het zuiden van Frankrijk meer gebonden aan de beperkingen van de lay-out. Desalniettemin koestert de organisatie van de Grand Prix op Paul Ricard goede hoop dat de wijzigingen het racen ten goede zullen komen. Ongeveer 70 procent van het 5,8 kilometer lange circuit en alle bochten behalve bocht 10 zijn onder handen genomen door Studio Dromo.

Een goed voorbeeld van de aanpassingen is in bocht 5, waar een klein heuveltje is aangebracht voor een betere drainage. Het heuveltje zorgt echter ook voor meer uitdaging voor de rijders, want het ligt midden op de racelijn. Bocht 7 heeft op zijn beurt een meer progressieve transitie in camber (hellingshoek) gekregen zodat de coureurs meer snelheid richting bocht 8 mee kunnen nemen.

Jarno Zaffelli van Studio Dromo deelde aan Racefans.net mede: "We kregen de opdracht om het asfalt in sommige bochten te verbeteren en terwijl we daar waren, hadden we zoiets van: 'Nu we er toch zijn, laten we kijken wat we binnen de beperkte mogelijkheden kunnen doen om het geheel te verbeteren'. Het was net als bij Silverstone, we waren gebonden aan de huidige lay-out."

"We hebben daardoor ook dezelfde methodologie toegepast als op Silverstone. De bochten die we van nieuw asfalt hebben voorzien hebben we direct opnieuw geprofileerd. Alleen aan bocht 10 hebben we niets gedaan, alle andere bochten zijn iets veranderd. Soms voor een betere drainage, soms om het inhalen te bevorderen. Min of meer dezelfde remedie als bij Silverstone dus."

Ze hadden veel beter het circuit met 'n pot zwarte verf kunnen renoveren, goedkoper en voor ons wat rustiger om naar de GP te kijken.

Deze baan is niet om aan te gluren op tv maar het suffe is dat ik het 1 van de leukste circuits op de playstation vind. Er zit een lekkere flow in.

Dezelfde firma als in Zandvoort? Wellicht kunnen die dan de rugstreeppad gelijk daarvandaan meenemen; die zal zich erg thuis voelen op dit circuit....

  Ik heb laatste race op Paul Ricard gekeken onder invloed van Lsd, kan het iedereen aanraden, icm dat lijnenspel raak je in trance en ga je hele gekeken dingen zien, tussen bocht 7 en bocht 8 zat een argentinosaurus op het asfalt te schijten...

  Er zitten stukjes tungsten , ook bekend als wolfraam in de uitloopstroken verwerkt. De kleur is gekozen zoals bij schuurpapier: hoe feller de kleur hoe meer stukjes ijzer en hoe sneller een gezonde auto stilstaat of zijn banden aan gort heeft
