Drie nieuwe speerpunten voor WeRaceAsOne-initiatief van F1 in 2021

De Formule 1 zet het vorig jaar in het leven geroepen WeRaceAsOne-initiatief dit jaar door, zij het in een andere vorm. Draaide het in 2020 nog om de bestrijding van de coronapandemie en ongelijkheid, voor 2021 krijgt het initiatief drie nieuwe speerpunten. De focus verschuift voor komend seizoen naar duurzaamheid, diversiteit en inclusie en de lokale gemeenschap.

De Formule 1, de internationale autosportbond FIA en de teams richten zich daarbij vooral op negen aspecten. Zo wil de koningsklasse van de autosport de weg plaveien voor de introductie van duurzame biobrandstof die ook toepasbaar is in normale straatauto's. In 2030 moet de Formule 1 de netto CO2-uitstoot gereduceerd hebben tot nul en het gebruik van plastic in de pits en paddock dient verminderd te worden.

Wat diversiteit en inclusie betreft spitst het programma zich toe op fondsen voor leerlingen met een moeilijke achtergrond die een studie in de richting van engineering willen volgen, meer aandacht vestigen op de W Series en stageplekken binnen de Formule 1 in het leven roepen voor mensen uit groepen die niet of weinig vertegenwoordigd zijn in de autosport. Daarnaast is de Formule 1 vastberaden om positieve verandering in lokale gemeenschappen teweeg te brengen.

De regenboog verdwijnt uit de uitingen van het WeRaceAsOne-initiatief omdat de nadruk nu op andere onderwerpen komt te liggen. Formule 1-directeur Stefano Domenicali: "Het WeRaceAsOne-initiatief was erg effectief in het vergroten van bewustzijn over sociaal belangrijke kwesties en onze toewijding om bij te dragen aan een positieve verandering. We zijn er erg trots op en de teams hebben het programma volledig omarmd."

  Mee eens hoor en soms vind ik het ook hypocriet, gezien de races in landen als Rusland en China. Tegelijkertijd lopen er nog genoeg racisten en homohaters rond en is bewustwording nog steeds een belangrijk aspect. Beetje dubbel gevoel heb ik erbij.

  Dat hoor ik veel : "China, Rusland en Saudi-Arabië".
  Zet er de VS ook maar bij waar meer dan 500 kinderen weggerukt zijn van hun ouders, en waarvan ze nu de ouders niet meer 'kunnen vinden'.

  Dat zal ik zeker niet goed praten en ik denk dat iets dergelijks voor veel westerse landen zal gelden. Maar systematische onderdrukking, dictatuur, (dood)straffen voor homo's en zelfs het uitroeien van bepaalde bevolkingsgroepen (Oeigoeren) gaat nog wel wat verder, in mijn optiek.

  Ik deel je optiek hoor! Daarom gaf ik ook de VS op, ... in elk land is er wel een donker hoofdstuk. Beter zou zijn als de F1 niet aan politiek doet. Mondje dicht en racen!

De drie juiste speerpunten, naar mijn idee :
- Ontwikkeling en innovatie moet voorop staan! Weg met 't bevriezen van zo goed als alles.
- Luidere motoren! Geef de fans waar ze al jaren om vragen.
- Richt je op 't racen, en niet op dingen die je weekend mooi opvullen.

  Luidere motoren?? Ga je zware tijden tegemoet… Misschien dat ze tzt gewoon een kunstmatig motorgeluid laten horen ,als in 2030 de verbrandingsmotor helemaal verboden wordt… Met de huidige maatschappelijke inclusive, deug en woke maatschappij zal me niet verbazen als motorsporten in elke vorm sowieso gecanceld wordt (zoals dat tegenwoordig heet voor opheffen/ verbieden, niet politiek correct.. )

Ik zit als fan eerlijk gezegd helemaal niet te wachten op politieke of maatschappelijke boodschappen of standpunten maar ik wil gewoon spannende races zien.
