Hamilton en Mercedes weer genomineerd voor prestigieuze sportprijs

Lewis Hamilton en zijn werkgever Mercedes zijn genomineerd voor de Laureus Awards. De regerend wereldkampioenen Formule 1 maken daardoor kans op een prestigieuze sportprijs. Hamilton mocht vorig jaar al de award voor Sportman van het Jaar in ontvangst nemen, hij werd samen met voetballer Lionel Messi uitgeroepen tot winnaar. Mercedes behoort de afgelopen jaren steevast tot de genomineerden, maar ging alleen in 2018 met de prijs aan de haal.

De concurrentie voor Hamilton in de categorie Sportman van het Jaar bestaat dit keer uit basketballer Lebron James, hardloper Joshua Cheptegui, voetballer Robert Lewandowski, tennisser Rafael Nadal en polsstokhoogspringer Armand Duplantis.

Mercedes neemt het in de categorie Sportteam van het Jaar op tegen het nationale rugbyteam van Argentinië, voetbalclub Bayern München, American Football-team Kansas City Chiefs, basketbalclub Los Angeles Lakers en voetbalploeg Liverpool.

De prijswinnaars worden in mei tijdens een virtueel evenement bekendgemaakt.

Los ervan dat je eerste alinea onleesbaar is, denk ik dat het niet heel gezond is om zo op te kijken tegen personen die het goed doen op een bepaald gebied.

Telkens maar quotes te blijven herhalen sterkt je niet. Focus je op jezelf en wellicht kan ook jij het beste uit jezelf halen.

    De uitslag zou bekend zijn als Lance genomineerd was.
    Nadal, James en al die andere onuitspreekbare namen stellen toch niks voor naast Lance?

    Imo hebben Lewis en Mercedes veuls te weinig concurrentie/weerstand gehad om voor deze prestigieuze prijs in aanmerking te komen, dus mijn voorkeur gaat uit naar Lebron James en FC Liverpool.

      Dat ze de concurrentie het nakijken geven, is niet de fout van Mercedes. Ze zijn terecht genomineerd, vind ik. Die prijs winnen, is een andere zaak. Daar kan ik (en eigenlijk niemand) objectief over oordelen. Domme lijstjes en prijzen...

      Van Mercedes kan je dat niet zomaar zeggen, van Hamilton wel vind ik. Als je jaar op jaar in veruit de beste auto rijdt met Bottas als teamgenoot, wat zijn die laatste 4 titels dan nog waard? Ik twijfel niet eraan dat het een topcoureur is, maar de titels ophalen is zo wel erg eenvoudig.

    Dik verdient om op de lijst te staan. MB en Sir Lewis dienen ook te winnen.

    In Nederland geven wij Mad Max dit soort titels ook al wint hij maar 1 race.

      Wie is Dik en waarom werkt hij voor zijn geld om op de lijst te komen?

      Mad Max is een fictief filmpersonage, heeft nog nooit een Formule 1 race gewonnen - zelfs niet virtueel.

      Max Verstappen won er 2 dit jaar, maar dat zal je vast zijn ontgaan. Of dat genoeg is om voor een prijs in aanmerking te komen? Lewis won er 11, en hij moest nog 1 race missen ook.
      Wel is de Mercedes een slag beter dan de Red Bull, maar 11 is wel heel veel.

    Vorig jaar maakte Roger Federer een hele rake opmerking over tijdens een persconferentie over personen die hem inspireren:

    "I understood pretty quickly how it was extremely different to win something for the first time and then coming back to defend the title the following year.
    Once you reach a certain level, I tried to look at many other athletes to find the right motivation. People like Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Valentino Rossi, Michael Schumacher, who managed to stay at the top for so long, win so many times that you ask yourself, How did they manage to do all this? Step by step you realize you are part of this group and year after year you get closer to these people.
    They have been a big inspiration for me in order to keep working hard."

    Ik denk dat weinigen eraan twijfelen dat ook Lewis Hamilton in dit rijtje thuishoort.
