Scuderia AlphaTauri verrichte woensdag een filmdag met de nieuwe AT02 op het circuit van Imola. Debutant Yuki Tsunoda nam plaats in de bolide voor komend seizoen. AlphaTauri had de AT02 voor de gelegenheid uitgerust met de nieuwe neus waar de Italiaanse renstal de twee ontwikkelingstokens deze winter aan gespendeerd heeft.

Die nieuwe neus was bij de presentatie van de AT02 nog niet te zien. AlphaTauri hield de kaarten toen nog tegen de borst. Op Imola etaleerde het opleidingsteam van Red Bull de nieuwe, smallere neus wel. Door de neus smaller te maken verschaffen de ontwerpers zichzelf meer vrijheid om te spelen met de cape wing, de vleugel die onder de neus is gemonteerd.

AlphaTauri is ook afgestapt van de stub nose, de neus met uitstulping. De Italiaanse renstal is overgeschakeld op een meer compact concept zoals andere teams al hanteerden. Mercedes, McLaren en Renault hebben de bevestigingspunten voor de voorvleugel daarbij ver naar achteren verplaatst, maar AlphaTauri doet dat niet. Tevens was de AT02 uitgerust met een nieuwe voorvleugel.
