Sponsors staan in de rij voor het F1-project van Aston Martin

Aston Martin presenteert later vandaag de auto waarmee het na meer dan zestig jaar afwezigheid terugkeert in de Formule 1, de AMR21. Die bolide zal meer dan genoeg sponsornamen bevatten. De rentree van het Britse merk in de koningsklasse van de autosport is niet onopgemerkt gebleven. De geldschieters staan in de rij om zich aan het Formule 1-project van Aston Martin te verbinden.

Aan de lange lijst geldschieters en partners is namelijk weer een nieuwe naam toegevoegd. Na Cognizant, BWT, NetApp, Peroni Libera 0.0%, SentinelOne, Girard-Perregaux en Replay slaat ook Crypto.com de handen ineen met Aston Martin F1 Team. Crypto.com is - niet geheel verrassend - een handelaar in cryptocurrency en heeft een meerjarige overeenkomst met de Britse renstal gesloten.

Aston Martin-teambaas Otmar Szafnauer denkt wel een verklaring te hebben voor die belangstelling. "Ze willen allemaal onderdeel uitmaken van onze reis", vertelt hij aan Reuters. "De naam Aston Martin en de plannen die wij hebben voor de toekomst spreken veel sponsors aan. De transformatie naar Aston Martin heeft ons nieuwe sponsors bezorgd en de bestaande geldschieters zijn blij met de weg die we zijn ingeslagen."

"Een deel van de interesse van bedrijven voor ons project is toe te schrijven aan Aston Martin, een ander deel aan eigenaar Lawrence Stroll en zijn ambities. Het is een combinatie van die factoren. Ook de komst van een kampioen als Sebastian Vettel speelt een rol. Het onderstreept onze ambities."

Ach, geld maakt geld. Toch mis ik echt een grote sponsornaam op die auto. Jammer dat Sony daar niks voor voelt. Maar wellicht gaat Lawrence een 'huismerk' erbij betrekken zoals Versace of Michael Kors.

  Wel minder bekend bij het grote publiek. Zou een beetje zijn als Unilever: dat kent het grote publiek ook niet. Maar iedereen heeft wel hun producten in de kast staan.

  @flying... je mist een bekende sponsornaam... maar dat is niet Stroll zijn style. Stroll maakt onbekend, bekend en dat is altijd zijn kracht geweest, bijvoorbeeld in early days met Kors
