Formule 1 lanceert verbeterde versie van videoplatform F1 TV

De Formule 1 lanceert voor het seizoen 2021 een update voor hun eigen videoplatform F1 TV. De aanpassingen moeten het voor de fans en kijkers makkelijker maken om content en materiaal te vinden in het uitgebreide beeldarchief, bestaand uit meer dan 2000 uur materiaal. Dat moet de kijkervaring aanzienlijk verbeteren.

Daarnaast is de technologische kant onder handen genomen. Gebruikers kunnen voortaan video's streamen bij een kwaliteit van 1080 pixels en 50 frames per second. Verder maakt de Formule 1 het mogelijk om F1 TV nu via Chromecast en Airplay naar de televisie te casten, zodat de kijkers het beeldmateriaal gewoon op hun televisie kunnen bekijken.

Ian Holmes, directeur mediarechten bij de Formule 1: "We zijn verguld met de hernieuwde lancering van F1 TV op weg naar het komende seizoen, met diverse aspecten om de ervaring van het product te verbeteren en het bekijken van ons uitgebreide archief makkelijker te maken. Accenture heeft ons geholpen om F1 TV naar een hoger plan te tillen en ik ben benieuwd hoe het platform zich verder zal ontwikkelen, terwijl wij blijven streven om de Formule 1 op zoveel mogelijk verschillende manieren aan te bieden."

Ben ik blij mee. Eindelijk niet meer zo’n gedoe door met m’n laptop naar de tv te streamen. Dat upscalen naar 4K regelt m’n tv wel.. en geeft ook gewoon prima beeld. Nu hopen dat het technisch ook allemaal goed werkt. Dat is nogal eens een probleem geweest met de app..

    1080P anno 2021?
    Dit had naar mijn idee gewoon 4K + HDR moeten zijn.

      Dat is geupscaled materiaal, geen echte 4K en al helemaal geen HDR.

      Maar dit gaat over het F1 platform en daar verwacht ik anno 2021 wel iets meer dan 1080P streaming.

      Sky heeft toch ook gewoon 4K beelden? Of is dat ook upscaled?
      Hoeveel K moet de bron zijn om 4K te kunnen aanbieden bij de TV? 8K of nog meer? i.v.m inzoomen e.d.

      Heb er eens wat over gelezen, maar inderdaad 1080p anno 2021 is wat schaars. Wel blij dat je hem nu fatsoenlijk kan casten.

      Samsonite. Niet dat ik in de wereld zit maar ik verwacht een beetje dat het allemaal optisch inzoomt. Dan heb je de zelfde granulering.

      Overigens vind ik nu al de beelden goed genoeg. Alleen heb ik 2 maal meegemaakt dat ergens in de verbinding het super traag was en ik eigenlijk niet meer kon kijken. Hopelijk blijft dat dan goed met 4k. Ik kijk eigenlijk niet meer via Ziggo.

      Zelfde irritaties hier altijd gehad, zou fijn zijn als het nu wel fatsoenlijk werkt inderdaad

    Heb het op begin eens getest toen het er pas was maar er waren vaak storingen of problemen met inloggen is dat nu al opgelost zijn er mensen die abbo hebben op f1tvpro

      Het eerste half jaar waren het inderdaad een hoop problemen, maar dat werd het steeds beter. Afgelopen seizoen heb ik slechts tijdens 1 race problemen gehad met F1TV Pro, voor de rest draaide het bij mij mooi soepel.
      Via de F1TV website tenminste, de app gebruik ik niet zoveel.

      Boeie, een van de redenen om F1TVpro te gebruiken is het Engels commentaar waar veel meer beleving in zit.

    Goed nieuws! Streamen naar chromecast apparaat werkte al redelijk vanaf pc maar ben blij dat het nu echte chromecast ondersteuning krijgt. 4k kan me gestolen worden maar hogere framerate is een grote plus.

    Als het gewoon elke race zonder storingen en/of capaciteitsproblemen werkt dan ben ik al blij.. Hoe dan ook blijft het mijn 1e keuze om de F1 te volgen.. Zelfs je commentaar kunnen kiezen en alle onboards kunnen zien zijn de hoofdredenen.. Plus dat het gewoon een stuk goedkoper is dan Ziggo Sport moeten nemen a 15 euro in de maand als glasvezel gebruiker..

      Volgens mij is een F1 punt com abo duurder dan dat. Ik heb overigens ziggo sport gratis en daardoor ook f1 punt com.
      Of gratis. Ik krijg het er voor 0 euro bij omdat ik een standaard Ziggo abo heb en toevallig een voodafone abo. Die combi geeft recht op een extra ziggo pakket. Als je dan sport selecteert, dan krijg je plots f1 punt Com er bij.

    Voor de duidelijkheid: Ziggo zend in echte 4K uit, dus geen upscaling. Alle camera's langs het circuit zijn ook gewoon 4K. Alleen als Ziggo naar de studio of naar Jack Plooij schakelt, is het 1080i geupscaled naar 4K.
