BWT verantwoordelijk voor roze baan op helm Sebastian Vettel

Aston Martin-coureur Sebastian Vettel was eigenlijk van plan om komend seizoen met een ongewijzigde helm aan de start te verschijnen. De Duitser heeft zich echter als merkambassadeur aan BWT verbonden, waardoor de baan over zijn witte helm nu een roze kleur heeft gekregen in plaats van de kleuren van de Duitse vlag.

Dat meldt sponsoring specialist Decalspotters. BWT was de voorbije jaren verantwoordelijk voor de roze bolides van Racing Point, maar leek na de transformatie van het team naar Aston Martin met stille trom te vertrekken. Het watertechnologiebedrijf zou zich niet kunnen vereenzelvigen met de nieuwe huisstijl van de Britse renstal, met wagens in British Racing Green.

De sponsor werd vervolgens in verband gebracht met Haas F1 Team en Williams, maar BWT koos uiteindelijk eieren voor zijn geld. Liever minder prominent op de auto's van het sterkere Aston Martin dan de livery bepalen bij een achterhoedeteam als Haas F1 of Williams. Dus bleef BWT gewoon bij Aston Martin.

Het bedrijf wist een kleine aanpassing aan de kleurstelling te bewerkstelligen, namelijk een roze in plaats van gifgroene/gele lijn over de zijkanten van de groene AMR21. Daarnaast bundelde BWT de krachten met viervoudig wereldkampioen Vettel, die daardoor wel genoegen moest nemen met een roze baan over zijn helm voor 2021 in plaats van zijn gebruikelijke helmdesign.
