Naast het feit dat Aston Martin de sport heeft betreden, zullen zij ook deels voor de safety cars zorgen tijdens Grand Prix-weekenden. Eerder deze week kondigde de Formule 1 aan dat Mercedes niet meer de enige fabrikant is die voor de safety cars zou zorgen.

Mercedes en Aston Martin zullen samen de safety- en medical cars verzorgen. Ook zal de Mercedes van kleur veranderen; waar de safety- en medical cars eerst zilvergrijs waren, zullen deze - deels in het kader van betere zichtbaarheid - felrood zijn.
