Silverstone deelt 10.000 gratis kaarten uit aan zorgmedewerkers

Het circuit van Silverstone heeft een mooi gebaar richting zorgmedewerkers en personeel in cruciale beroepen gemaakt. De baan geeft namelijk in samenwerking met Blue Light Tickets in totaal 10.000 gratis kaarten weg aan werknemers van de Britse gezondheidsdienst NHS, de hulpdiensten en andere beroepsgroepen die ten tijde van lockdowns door moesten blijven werken en blootgesteld werden aan de gevaren van het coronavirus.

Het gaat om tickets voor de Grand Prix van Groot-Brittannië, de MotoGP-race op Silverstone en de Classic. Voor het Formule 1-weekend - van 16 tot en met 18 juli - zijn in totaal 3.500 kaarten beschikbaar gesteld: 2.200 voor de vrijdag, 1.000 voor de zaterdag en 300 voor de zondag. Dezelfde aantallen zijn van toepassing op het MotoGP-weekend - van 27 tot en met 29 augustus. Voor The Classic gaat het om 2.000 kaarten voor vrijdag 30 juli en 1.000 tickets voor zondag 1 augustus.

Zorgmedewerkers kunnen zich nu aanmelden en de verdeling geschiedt aan de hand van een loting. Silverstone-directeur Stuart Pringle: "De samenwerking met Blue Light Tickets en Blue Light Card geeft ons de zekerheid dat de kaarten terechtkomen bij degenen aan wie we met zijn allen veel verschuldigd zijn. We hopen velen van hen te mogen verwelkomen bij onze mooie evenementen deze zomer, iets dat we twaalf maanden hebben moeten missen."

Sommigen zien af omwille van een overvloed aan noodzakelijk werk (de zorgsector). Anderen zien af door een gebrek aan werk (cultuur en horeca, catering). Nog anderen doen hun best om er het beste van te maken (onderwijs en het atypische afstandsonderwijs). De meesten (o.a. kinderen, jeugd en twintigers) vergeet ik echter op te noemen. Het is gevaarlijk om één bepaalde sector/groep te belonen.

  Eten kan je thuis ook, studeren ook, ... Gezond blijven is een heel ander verhaal. Stel, je wordt opgenomen in een ziekenhuis. Wil je dan een kok of een leraar?
  Deze mensen (het zorgpersoneel) mogen van mij ABSOLUUT een podium krijgen in deze tijd. Onderbetaald, onmenselijke uren! Maar toch staan ze er omwille van hun roeping. Daar waar een dokter z'n vak kiest om geld te verdienen, kiezen deze mensen ervoor om anderen te helpen!! Think about it!!!

  Als ik word opgenomen in het ziekenhuis wil ik zorgpersoneel, als ik lekker wil eten een kok en als ik iets wil leren een leerkracht. Verder kan je inderdaad thuis studeren maar je kan thuis geen onderwijs krijgen zoals op school. Het contact, de interacties, de werkvormen zijn essentieel voor goed onderwijs. Over thuis eten ben ik het eens behalve dan dat ik het niet over mezelf had maar over mensen die hun job/zaak verliezen wegens een gebrek aan werk/inkomsten. Het zorgpersoneel verdient een structurele verbetering, al jaren, veel meer dan een doekje voor het bloeden. En wat je zegt over artsen is zeer kort door de bocht. Je reageert een beetje naast mijn kwestie. Maar als dat ticketje er komt, zal ik ze niet benijden.
