Formule 1 bundelt de krachten met goed doel Global Citizen

De Formule 1 heeft Global Citizen aangekondigd als partner en uithangbord voor de WeRaceAsOne-campagne voor 2021. Draaide het in 2020 nog om de bestrijding van de coronapandemie en ongelijkheid, voor 2021 krijgt het initiatief drie nieuwe speerpunten. De focus verschuift voor komend seizoen naar duurzaamheid, diversiteit en inclusie en de lokale gemeenschap. Daarvoor slaat de sport in ieder geval de handen ineen met armoedebestrijder Global Citizen.

Formule 1-directeur Stefano Domenicali: "We zijn verguld om de krachten te bundelen met Global Citizen, wiens passie voor en streven naar positieve verandering aansluit bij onze ambities om met de Formule 1 een positieve impact te hebben op de gemeenschap, het milieu en de sport. We zijn trots op ons WeRaceAsOne-platform waar we fans en Global Citizen-volgers aanmoedigen om positieve veranderingen te steunen. Onze toewijding om de problemen ten aanzien van duurzaamheid en diversiteit in onze sport aan te pakken is groot, maar we worden afgerekend op onze acties. Deze samenwerking met Global Citizen is in ieder geval een duidelijk teken dat het ons menens is."

Global Citizen-directeur Hugh Evan vult aan: "Het doet ons deugd om samen te werken met de Formule 1 als inspiratiebron voor verandering voor de lange termijn. WeRaceAsOne is een krachtig voorbeeld van wat er mogelijk is en samen met de sport gaan we proberen om belangrijk werk op gebied van duurzaamheid, inclusie en gemeenschap te bevorderen. Onze filosofie is om met organisaties als de Formule 1, overheden, filantropen, atleten en entertainers te werken aan een globaal herstel. Hopelijk dragen ze deze boodschap ook nadrukkelijk uit tijdens de GP's van Bahrein, Azerbeidzjan, Rusland, VAE, Hongarije en Saudi-Arabië.

Zo niet, dan is het wassen neus als het gaat om inclusie en diversiteit.

Ik nodig gptoday uit om Global Citizen effe breder toe te lichten dan enkel de naam te vermelden. Blijkbaar denken mensen alleen nog maar aan knielen of vallen ze er zelfs bij in slaap.
