Jean Alesi laaiend enthousiast over Ferrari-duo Leclerc en Sainz

Het team van Ferrari beschikt in 2021 over een fantastische line-up. Oud Formule 1-coureur Jean Alesi is in ieder geval laaiend enthousiast over het duo Charles Leclerc en Carlos Sainz. Samen vormen zij de jongste line-up voor de Scuderia in meer dan vijftig jaar, maar dat zal geen belemmering vormen. Alesi ziet het helemaal zitten met Sainz als opvolger van de naar Aston Martin vertrokken Sebastian Vettel.

"De line-up is niet te jong", steekt Alesi van wal tegenover Gazzetta dello Sport. "Ik ben gek op Charles en ik ben gek op Carlos, want hij is de afgelopen jaren enorm gegroeid en hij heeft het op de juiste manier gedaan. Carlos heeft van alles meegemaakt, maar je hoort hem niet klagen en hij maakt nooit stampij. Ik weet zeker dat hij die lijn zal voortzetten en goede dingen voor Ferrari en voor zichzelf zal doen."

Sainz herinnert Alesi een beetje aan viervoudig wereldkampioen Alain Prost. "Carlos gaat gestructureerd te werk en doet alles stap voor stap, steeds een tandje sneller en beter. Als hij de vijfde tijd noteert in de kwalificatie, kun je hem opschrijven voor het podium in de race. Hij doet me denken aan Alain Prost. Die viel op vrijdag en zaterdag ook nooit zo op, maar op zondag stond hij er steeds. Alain zorgde altijd voor het maximaal haalbare resultaat. Sainz is ook zo, een finisher."

Het belooft een interessant gevecht tussen Sainz en Leclerc te worden. "Ik voorzie weinig wrevel, aangezien beiden eerst aan de wederopstanding van Ferrari moeten denken. Charles heeft al vaker sterke teamgenoten gehad, hij kan de druk en interne competitie aan. Er verandert wel iets voor Leclerc, hij kan zich niet meer verschuilen achter zijn jeugdige leeftijd. En met Sainz krijgt hij een teamgenoot die praktisch geen fouten maakt", aldus Alesi.

Goede analyse van Alesy. Het is zeker geen gelopen koers voor LeClerc. Denk dat Sainz meer punten gaat pakken dan LeClerc

  @Redcar Toch wel weer een pr dingetje van Ferrari. Gebeurt altijd als de aandacht in de media veelal bij andere teams ligt, en Ferrari zich een beetje buitengesloten voelt.

  @Bill Da's natuurlijk een italiaanse krant :P.... En begrijp me niet verkeerd hoor, van mij mogen ze, en misschien zit ik er ook naast, maar Alesi zegt alleen maar positieve dingen over zijn voormalig werkgever, en eigenlijk nooit iets over andere teams/coureurs.
  Maar nogmaals: ze doen maar. Gebeurt ook met Marko en de Oostenrijkse media, dus.

  @RJH Zit hij er dan zover naast? En verder staat deze krant altijd klaar om Ferrari (en piloten) neer te sabelen als het niet goed is. Kunnen sommige Nederlandse media nog wat van leren....

Alles hangt af van de nieuwe bolide en of Sainz niet te snel blijkt.

Gaat die wagen als de brandweer dan zijn Karel en Karel ook dikke maatjes, is de wagen mideelmatig, dan wordt het al wat spannender.

En als Karel S. sneller blijkt dan Karel L., dan gaat L. daar vast niet zo maar opzij.

Prost reed vooral heel 'clean', je zag niet aan zijn auto dat hij zo hard ging en dan stond hij toch weer vooraan. Dat heb ik bij Carlos nog niet gezien.
Vind de line-up van Ferrari wel erg sterk en ben benieuwd wie van de twee er aan het eind van het seizoen de meeste punten heeft.
