Domenicali: "Grand Prix van Bahrein perfecte reclame voor Formule 1"

De spannende Grand Prix van Bahrein van afgelopen weekend zal de belangstelling voor de Formule 1 alleen maar verder aanwakkeren. Dat stelt Formule 1-directeur Stefano Domenicali in The Independent. Op het circuit van Sakhir knokten Mercedes-coureur Lewis Hamilton en Red Bull Racing-rijder Max Verstappen om de zege.

Hamilton won, met een verschil van slechts 0,7 seconde op de streep. Domenicali: "Het was briljant, precies wat de Formule 1 nodig heeft. Twee fantastische coureurs die vooraan strijden om de overwinningen, terwijl het hele veld dichter naar elkaar toe lijkt te kruipen. Dit was perfecte reclame voor de Formule 1 en het seizoen 2021."

Domenicali staat sinds begin dit jaar aan het roer van de Formule 1. De Italiaan - voormalig teambaas van Ferrari - nam het stokje over van Chase Carey. Aan Domenicali de taak om de in het coronajaar 2020 aangerichte financiële schade te herstellen en de Formule 1 ook op andere vlakken toekomstbestendig te maken. Dan helpt het enorm als het sportieve gedeelte in ieder geval in orde is en afleiding vormt voor de zaken die achter de schermen spelen.
