Pierre Gasly kon mooie startpositie niet verzilveren: "Teleurstellend"

Scuderia AlphaTauri-coureur Pierre Gasly was zaterdag met een vijfde plaats nog de uitblinker in de kwalificatie voor de Grand Prix van Bahrein, op zondag was hij de schlemiel. Daar kon hij zelf overigens niet heel veel aan doen, na licht contact met McLaren-rijder Daniel Ricciardo in de openingsronde verloor hij zijn voorvleugel en moest hij langzaam terug naar de pits.

Vervolgens reed de Fransman een kansloze race achteraan het veld. Vlak voor het einde parkeerde Gasly zijn auto in de pitbox met een mogelijk probleem aan zijn versnellingsbak. Hij baalt vanzelfsprekend als een stekker dat hij zijn mooie startpositie niet heeft weten om te zetten in een klinkend resultaat. "Zwaar teleurstellend", reageerde de AlphaTauri-coureur.

Gasly vervolgt: "Vanaf het moment dat we in Bahrein arriveerden verliep het weekend voor ons naar wens. We waren erg sterk en kwalificeerden ons zelfs als vijfde. Dan hoop je dat je een flinke lading punten mee naar huis kunt nemen, maar na de touché met Daniel was het al voorbij."

"De voorvleugel brak af en ik liep schade aan mijn vloer op. Na de eerste ronde had ik een achterstand van meer dan een minuut, dus ik ben zeer teleurgesteld." Gasly klampt zich maar vast aan de snelheid die AlphaTauri het hele weekend tentoonspreidde. "Al met al waren er ook genoeg positieve punten om mee te nemen en dat is waar de nadruk op zal liggen op weg naar Imola."

Inderdaad heel jammer.

Hij is echt goed bezig en had meer verdiend.

Vind hem echt beter geworden en volwassener.

  ik had veel verwacht van Gasly, jammer, foutje kan gebeuren..
  Wel moet hij gaan uitkijken voor Tsunoda, naarmate die meer ervaring opdoet gaat Pierre het daar nog moeilijk mee krijgen verwacht ik

Hij reed zijn voorvleugel zelf aan bonken....was weer eens iets te gehaast.
